The summit between Inter and Roma for an exchange of loans between Edin Dzeko and Alexis Sanchez has now concluded.

Nerazzurri chief Piero Ausilio met with Giallorossi director Tiago Pinto at the Hotel Melià in Milan this evening, after the Lega Serie A meeting in the city.

According to the latest reports, Ausilio left the hotel and refused to speak with the media.

The negotiations continue, but the biggest stumbling block seems to be the cost of paying Dzeko’s salary.

While Alexis Sanchez arrived from Manchester United recently and is therefore able to make the most of the up to 50 per cent discount on taxes, the same is not true for long-term Roma striker Dzeko.

The Bosnian’s exit became necessary following a bitter split with coach Paulo Fonseca last week and he has been told to train separately from the rest of his teammates.

Regarding the quarrel between Ibrahimovic and Lukaku in the derby during the Coppa Italia quarter-finals, Fabio Capello, former Rossoneri manager, told ilgiornale.it the following:

“These are things that sometimes happen between players. I think they both went over the top, but the thing I am sorry about is that they did not fight for a football reason. When you bring out other factors that are external to football, it is never good.”

“Ibrahimovic is accused of racism? No. Come on, racism has nothing to do with what happened between him and Lukaku. Zlatan is someone who has lived a bad story like the war in Yugoslavia, he has a Muslim father and a Catholic mother. He is certainly not a racist person. I repeat, there have been unpleasant and silly exchanges of jokes.”

On the Serie A:

“I didn’t expect to see Milan at the top. I expected to see Inter and Juventus in the lead for various reasons. Conte is in his second year with Inter and therefore there is a sort of continuity. Juventus has had the entry of Pirlo but has come from nine consecutive years of victories and has a strong club management behind him.”

On Milan’s season so far:

“The Rossoneri team showed a fantastic and an exceptional 2020. That was the real surprise because of their continuity in performance.”

According to the latest from Tuttosport (via MilanLive), Gabbia’s recovery program is going well and the Italian should return to training with the rest of the group in early February. We will have to wait a few more days after that for him to get his fitness back and then he will be available for selection.

AC Milan and Inter have been joined by Real Madrid in the race to land Lille defender Sven Botman, according to a report from Spain.

According to a report from Calciomercato.it, Botman’s performances with Lille have certainly not gone unnoticed as Milan and Inter have taken an interest in the Dutch centre-back.

However, his arrival will not be easy as there is some very strong competition for Botman from Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, who have been thinking about him for some time, and now a further blow arrives from Spain.

The report cites OkDiario in claiming that Real Madrid are also on the trail of the 21-year-old, who Lille could allow to leave for around €25m in the summer window. If an auction were to break out though it cannot be ruled out that the price would skyrocket, which would not be good news for Milan or Inter given their delicate accounts.

Real Madrid will first be called upon to resolve the Sergio Ramos issue as his renewal is not yet sorted and PSG are ready to pounce. If their captain were really to leave, they would have the space and the liquidity to get Botman.

AC Milan playmaker Hakan Calhanoglu will almost certainly miss Saturday’s game in Bologna, according to the latest from Sky Italia.

The broadcaster (via MilanLive) are reporting that Calhanoglu has tested positive for Coronavirus in the most recent test he carried out, and therefore he will not return to training tomorrow and will not leave with the team for Bologna.

Some patience is of course needed because of the complex nature of the virus, but it usually takes 13-14 days for players to come back, and although Rade Krunic – who tested positive at the same time – is now back, it must be remembered that Calhanoglu in recent days also suffered some symptoms of the disease, such as fever and widespread aches across his muscles.

It will take time before the No.10 can return to the group, but the hope is that he will be back for the game against Crotone next week.

Leao: 'Milan deserved to win'
5 mins ago / autty
Rafael Leao believes Milan deserved to win against Bologna and says he’s never thought about taking penalty kicks.

“We put in great intensity and desire to win, there was a small drop in the last ten minutes, but I think we deserved the victory,” the Portuguese striker told Sky Sport after Milan’s 2-1 win over Bologna.

Has he ever thought about taking penalty kicks?

“No, we have important footballers, Ibra, Kessie, Theo. There are many footballers who can score, but the victory is the most important thing, not the goal scorers.

“We are Milan, we always want to win,” he continued.

“We have a long path ahead, but we focus on one game at time.”

The 21-year-old has released his first rap album earlier this week.

“Football is the first thing, I’ve always wanted to get to this level. After that, when I have some time off, I can sing some songs.”
