FIGC President Gabriele Gravina claims the spat between Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Romelu Lukaku was ‘not pleasant’ but insists the strikers do not deserve exemplary punishments.

The Inter and Milan forwards were involved in a spat during a Coppa Italia quarter final clash on January 26.

The Swede caused Lukaku’s anger by telling him: "Do your voodoo s***" and risks a long ban if he is found guilty of racist abuse towards Lukaku as the Federal Prosecutor has opened an investigation.

“It was something not nice to see, but I wouldn’t talk about exemplary punishments,” Gravina told Il Corriere della Sera.

“However, a decision must be taken by the Federal Prosecutor,” the FIGC President added.

Milan’s technical director Paolo Maldini defended Ibrahimovic while Beppe Marotta suggested the Inter striker was provoked.

Biraghi: 'Inter are strongest on paper, but...'
By Football Italia staff

Fiorentina winger Cristiano Biraghi said his former club Inter are ‘strongest on paper’, but believes Milan 'can go all the way' this term.

Biraghi returned to Florence last summer, when Inter couldn't reach an agreement of a permanent move with Fiorentina.

Dalbert returned to Inter and Biraghi replaced him at the left in Florence, and the 28-year-old has played 19 times in Serie A since his return to Fiorentina.

Biraghi, who has contributed one goal and five assists, was asked if the Nerazzurri could go all the way this term.

“It’s a complicated question,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “On paper, together with Juventus, they are the strongest.

“But Milan can go all the way. Roma and Napoli are up there, whilst Lazio and Atalanta can surprise."

Torino: 'Belotti has to be convinced'

Torino President Urbano Cairo confirms he made a ‘very advantageous proposal’ to extend Andrea Belotti’s contract, but the striker needs to ‘be convinced.’

The 27-year-old is locked down until June 2022, but failure to agree a new deal soon could see him sold over the summer.

“Belotti has been with us since 2015, we already extended his contract once and our intention is to do it again, having made a very advantageous proposal,” Cairo told Sky Sport Italia.

“Clearly, the player has to be convinced and I hope he will be. Since he arrived, we have come ninth in two seasons, once 12th and the last two campaigns – including the current one – weren’t up to scratch.

“However, we always constructed good teams. We’ll do our best on an economic level and we’ll see if he is motivated to remain.”

So Cairo knows he will likely sell him either in the summer or next winter if he is to get anything from his sale.

AC Milan have chosen Brahim Diaz’s replacement
Posted on February 4, 2021 by Rossonero

AC Milan have already started to plan for life after Brahim Diaz if the Spanish midfielder returns to Real Madrid.
The future of Brahim Diaz is not yet clear. The Spanish attacking midfielder arrived last summer on dry loan from Real Madrid. Los Blancos coach Zinedine Zidane wants him to return at Madrid and AC Milan don’t have an option to make the transfer permanent.

The 21-year-old midfielder has settled well in Italy, as well as with his teammates. The Rossoneri would like to keep Diaz, at least for another season, but it will not be easy to convince Real Madrid.

AC Milan are willing to invest 20 million euros to secure Diaz on a permanent deal but will not go beyond this figure. If an agreement can’t be reached the management has already a plan B.

If Diaz leaves, a new playmaker will be needed to act as back up for Hakan Calhanoglu (except for sensational twists, the renewal of the Turkish player should be announced shortly). According to Corriere dello Sport, Paolo Maldini has identified Otavio Edmilson as the ideal replacement if Diaz leaves.

The Brazilian becomes a free agent at the end of the season and can join any club he wants. The Rossoneri are already in contact with Otavio and so are Roma. Milan are offering him 2.5 million per season while Otavio asks for close to 4 million. Talks proceed. The 25-year-old has made 22 appearance with Porto so far, scoring 3 goals and assisting 8.

📰 #ACMilan player value increases, as per @Sport_Mediaset:

➤ T. Hernandez: €20m to 60m
➤ Leao: €24m to €35m
➤ Bennacer: €16m to €50m
➤ Rebic: €5m to €35m
➤ Saelemaekers: €7m to €20m
➤ Total: €72m to €200m

AC Milan should start negotiating with Manchester United over a permanent deal for Diogo Dalot ‘in the coming days’. A deal of €17m ‘has been discussed’, although Milan are still to submit an official offer. #MUFC [Il Milanista via @Sport_Witness]

Speaking to the microphones of Il Corriere dello Sport, Giovanni Stroppa also spoke about AC Milan and the goal to remain in Serie A with Crotone. Here are his words:
On facing the Rossoneri:

“The colours of AC Milan have stayed with me, I am used to playing with the red and black shirt, not against it. I don’t see Milan as everyone does. I see my childhood, my adolescence and a piece of my maturity.

But I can’t afford to get very excited. You know our ranking, right? In another situation maybe I would think about it more.”

On the necessity of getting as many points as possible:
“In the summer we had objective difficulties in building the squad. We found ourselves struggling with a complicated mercato.

In the last game we lacked determination but it won’t happen again. We are missing only the points because the performances have always been there. I am very happy with the team I have.”

#ACMilan are without a South American player in their squad for the first time in 24 years. The last time it happened was in the 1996-97 season, under Uruguayan coach Oscar Tabarez.

Hmmmn interesting fact.

Andrea Belotti could well leave Torino in the upcoming summer transfer window, a report claims, but his destination may be England.

This morning’s edition of La Stampa (via TMW) writes about Belotti’s situation, as his contract expires in June 2022. A renewal will have to be completed before the start of the new season in order not to run the risk of starting the season without a safety net for the club, which suggests an imminent crossroads.

Given that the Italy international is 27, he knows this is his chance to get a move to a big club and fight for trophies in a winning project, with Tottenham above all showing interest. They see him as the typical centre-forward suited to the English game for the way he is on the pitch.

Belotti is focused on doing his best for Torino in the meantime, but in the summer we will know whether he is committed to the Granata or whether it is time to move on.

As Tuttosport writes (via Calciomercato.com), the Rossoneri are observing the situation regarding the Torino forward. If negotiations for his renewal do not take off and if the signature does not arrive, Cairo would be ready to lower the economic demands, and the Diavolo are watching.

Belotti has 102 goals in 212 games for Torino across all competitions since his arrival.
