“As a child I was a Milan fan, they are a great team. San Siro is a legendary stadium. When they told us that we will play against milan after the draws, we were excited, it will be a spectacular tie ”🎙 Harry Maguire https://t.co/z9CDjwEnEH

Maguire has become a dominant figure at Manchester United under Ole Gunnar Solskjær. The Red Devils captain spoke about the upcoming match against Milan in an exclusive interview with the uefa.com

On facing AC Milan in the round of 16
When I was growing up, AC Milan were a massive club. The San Siro is an iconic stadium, so when we got drawn and people told us about who we got, it was an exciting tie. It’s an exciting tie to be involved in. It’s an exciting tie to play in.

On Diego Dalot
Obviously, we’ve got Diogo [Dalot] on loan there as well, so I’m sure a few of the boys are in contact with him. And we know what a great team they are. They’re doing well in the league this year, so we know it’s going to be a tough game.

Pioli answered journalists’ questions in view of tomorrow’s Europa League clash against United, with his answers relayed by MilanNews and translated below.
What does the Verona victory give you ahead of tomorrow’s match?
“It has to give us more certainty. When we play intensely we are a good team. We are prepared to play a great match tomorrow night as well.”
Have you found greater security in defence?
“You have to be a team in both phases. If we are more compact and shorter, we can do better in both the defensive and the offensive phases.”
Did United’s performance against City impress you?
“I was very impressed, United have deservedly won against a fantastic team that haven’t lost in 20/21 games. We studied that game.”
What can you tell us about Dalot?
“We are very happy with his growth. Future? It’s early, we are focused only on the next matches. Then it’s not up to me to talk about these things.”
*Is it an early final? *
“I don’t think so, there are many strong teams still in the running. It is a prestigious match between two historic clubs with a great past. Now we are working to get back to winning and make our dreams come true.”

How important will Donnarumma be tomorrow?
“Gigio is decisive for us both in the defensive phase and in the setting. His performance will be very important for us tomorrow.”

Would a tie be a good result for you?
“Some games just have to be played to the fullest and with great conviction, as well as with great respect for a team that has dropped out of the Champions League. A positive result tomorrow evening would give us an important momentum in view of the return leg.”
In your opinion, how long will it take to see Milan like the one that beat Manchester United in 2007?“We are working to get back to winning. Maldini said the right things some time ago: it takes a couple of years of regular presence in the Champions League to grow and think about competing at certain levels and winning trophies. There is still a long way to go. that we must face with this conviction and this enthusiasm.”
Did Milan bring out the best of themselves when there are difficulties?
“We have a choice to make: either let ourselves be overwhelmed by the negative waves or ride the positive ones. And we chose to ride it, then the team will put in a good performance against a difficult opponent.”

Lazio Striker Ciro Immobile received the Golden Shoe today for finishing the top goalscorer from across Europe's top leagues in 2019/20 with 36 goals. 👟🏆

OFFICIAL: After an investigation of the fight between Romelu Lukaku and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the Coppa Italia Quarter Final, FIGC has deemed it as "unsportsmanlike behaviour" and NOT racism. Gazzetta : Kessié is worth 50 million. Milan will offer him a contract renewal for around 800k increase to his current salary so he could reach to €3M a year.

This Gentleman definitely deserves the raise and if anyone should ask for 5 or 6M it should be him 😉.

Defender Fikayo Tomori has revealed that he sees it as an ‘honour’ every time he gets to pull on the AC Milan shirt.

Tomori arrived at Milan in January on a six-month loan from Chelsea, where he had been struggling to get playing time, and so far he has made a very positive impact in his eight appearances.

The Englishman spoke to the microphones of Milan TV on the eve of the game, with his comments transcribed by MilanNews and relayed below. He began by reflecting on his time with the club so far, confirming that he is finding the experience a very positive one.

“Since I arrived, every time I have worn this shirt has been an honour. Tomorrow being able to play this match between two clubs that have made history in Europe will certainly be special and we hope that the result will be positive,” he said.

Both Milan and Manchester United go into the game after important victories in the league, with the Red Devils having beaten their rivals Manchester City 2-0 on Sunday hours after the Rossoneri had won against Hellas Verona.

“Already after the qualification I felt that we would challenge an English team and obviously meet Manchester United, a great European club, everyone charged, we were waiting for this big match. Now we are here and we want to play a great match to bring home a good result,” Tomori added.

“We play away at United, it will be difficult but when we play as we know we can beat anyone, we hope so tomorrow, we have prepared well and now we want to play to return to Milan with a positive result.”

"As a child I dreamed of playing for Milan. When a team played well we all said 'it looks like Milan'. It's every footballer's dream. We were a family but we competed in everything, it was no accident that that team made history. Milan was great "🎙️ crespo https://t.co/x3xLpKsBZc

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been cleared of racism allegations, but both he and Romelu Lukaku have been accused of ‘unsportsmanlike conduct.’

The Milan and Inter strikers clashed in a Coppa Italia derby on January 26.
Ibrahimovic provoked Lukaku, telling him to call his mother and do his 'voodoo sh…’

Lukaku reacted and both strikers were booked, but Ibra’s words were not considered racist by the investigators.

As per Calciomercato.com and La Gazzetta dello Sport, both strikers were accused of unsportsmanlike conduct by the FIGC, with objective responsibility from the clubs, which means that while the clubs are responsible for their players' actions, they won't be punished for it either.

Both players will be deferred fo the FIGC, but they can settle a reduced sanction, as provided by the Sports Justice Code.
