Milan Mayor Beppe Sala has announced the intention to appeal against injunction on demolishing the San Siro.

Speaking to reporters, via FCInterNews, the Milan Mayor called the injunction “absurd” and argued that it would be damaging to the city and people of Milan.

The injunction on demolishing the San Siro has looked to be the final nail in the coffin of Inter and AC Milan’s plans to build a new stadium in place of the existing one.

For years, the club have worked in the direction of building a new stadium together.

Their plans have revolved around demolishing the existing San Siro, and building a new stadium in the same location.

However, the clubs have faced continued bureaucratic delays. This has caused them to lose patience and pursue alternative plans.

First, Milan have looked to the San Donato area, where they have taken serious steps towards building a new stadium.

Then, Inter have done the same in the commune of Rozzano. The Nerazzurri have already formally presented plans in the area.

Milan Mayor Announces Plans To Appeal Injunction Against Demolishing San Siro
Whilst the other bureaucratic delays have been a problem for Inter and Milan’s original plans, the injunction against demolishing the San Siro is completely terminal for them.

Milan Legend Alessandro Costacurta believes the Club’s players have more responsibilities than Stefano Pioli and blames the the strikers, except Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud. Milan lost a 0-1 game at San Siro against 17th place Udinese last night. Milan haven’t won any of the last four games across all competitions, collecting three defeats and one draw.

“This was a flat performance,” Costacurta told Sky Sport Italia after the game.

“Milan were good for 30 minutes against Juventus. PSG are a strong side, so it’s acceptable to lose against them. In Naples, they did well in the first half and even later, but this defeat is worrying because they have nothing in attack.

“Only Rafael Leao invents something once in a while. Giroud scored two goals in Naples, but the most alarming thing is when they need something from other players,” continued the former defender.

Luka Jovic had started the Udinese game in attack with Giroud but the Serbia international was replaced during the break and received the lowest ratings from Italian sports papers on Sunday morning.

Giroud scored Milan’s only two goals in the last four games in a 2-2 draw against Napoli last week.

The Rossoneri have yet to win a game following the international break in October, so Costacurta was asked who has more responsibility for this situation.

“I don’t know this environment. I came through tough times when the coach took responsibility and I think Stefano is doing so,” he said.

“What I think, however, is that Stefano has fewer responsibilities than his players.”

Costacurta played one season on loan at Monza but spent the rest of his career at Milan, playing 663 games with the Rossoneri.

The former Italy defender won the Champions League five times with the Diavoli and many other trophies, including seven Serie A titles and five Supercoppa Italiana.

🗣️ | Stefano Pioli on San Siro whistling:

“The fans supported us so much. Tonight we deserve, and I deserve the whistles. Then I think they can't wait that we embrace each other again"

🗣️ | Stefani Pioli to @MilanTV:

“Tonight we struggled a lot. The whistles are well deserved. I did not prepare the team well.”

🎙️#Pioli in conference: " deserve the boos. The reaction against PSG will be there"

📍 AC Milan therefore bows to:

➡️ a team that had NEVER won a match this season
➡️ a team that had failed to beat Cagliari, Monza, Lecce, Empoli, Genoa, Salernitana and Frosinone
➡️ a team that has the 3rd worst attack in Serie A
➡️ a team that has the 5th worst defense in Serie A
➡️ a team that has the 3rd worst total passes per match in Serie A

It is therefore at San Siro that Udinese wins its first match of the season against Milan who failed to score against the 5th worst defense in Serie A ❌

🎙️#Pioli to Sky Sport: “We didn't play the match we wanted to play, too much confusion and little quality. Everything should worry us: the match against Udinese and the results below expectations. Performance not up to par” #Milan

👉#Maignan in conference: "There is no room for emotions. We have to play like Milan.

Renewal? I like being here at Milan. We haven't started talking about the renewal because I think that both for me and for the club it's not the time yet.

I like #Ibra ? No, I'm Mike and Ibra is Ibra. I'm a natural leader, and I give my best."

Milan are under pressure after a run of four games without a win, three of which were losses against Juventus, PSG and Udinese. Responding with a positive performance is therefore paramount not just because of the bad run of form, but also to keep qualification hopes alive in the Champions League.

The game in Paris highlighted a lot of the fears that fans and the media have about the Rossoneri as it was a comfortable 3-0 defeat which featured a lot of defensive vulnerability and the concession of multiple dangerous counter-attacks.

Pioli spoke alongside ex-PSG man Mike Maignan at the pre-match press conference this afternoon at Milanello, and his comments were relayed by MilanNews.

What are Milan missing?

“We disappointed everyone on Saturday, this is quite evident. We have to do everything the opposite and we have to put it right. I know I coach a responsible, attentive team with the possibility of playing a great match.”

Could tomorrow’s game be a breakthrough?

“If we’re talking about the Champions League, absolutely yes. We can no longer hope for positive results from the opposing teams. It will be very difficult because the opponent is of the highest level.

“We can play a great match because I have strong players and we have the right ideas to put them in difficulty.”

The team have had a difficult recent period…

“We paid too much for some results where we deserved more. We paid because in the last match we performed insufficiently compared to what we could and wanted.”

What did you learn from the first PSG game?

“We have to maintain a very high level of attention in both phases of the game. They can hit you at any time but at the same time they can give you something and we have to be better and more effective at hitting them when situations arise than we were in the first leg.”

What is the mood like on the eve of the game?

“The eve was about work and discussion. I spoke and the players spoke, as is always done. It is always done between united groups that have to overcome a delicate moment. Preparation has been done with a lot of concentration to try to play a great match tomorrow.

“In the first leg we didn’t allow many one-on-ones in the first half, we were compact, we stole a lot of balls. For the first goal we had the necessary number of players behind the ball.”

How important is Maignan in your build-up?

“Mike is always at the centre of our tactical dictates. In modern football, knowing how to build from the back is very important. Mike is a top player in this, he gives us a lot of confidence.”

How do you react to Saturday’s disappointment?

“The prevailing feeling within us is that of revenge and showing that we are not the same as Saturday. We disappointed the fans who have always supported us and if they booed us it means that we did really badly, we are aware of this/ Above all, for this reason we have the opportunity to return to playing like Milan.”

What kind of a welcome do you think Donnarumma will get?

“I believe that our fans will do everything to encourage the team if we demonstrate that we play like Milan: they have a great love for our colours. It’s up to us to drag our fans along and ensure that San Siro be an extra gear.”

There were jeers after Saturday’s loss, but you still have the club’s trust…

“In these situations, it’s not the words that make the difference but the behaviour. I keep repeating that the club is putting me in the best conditions, it has made a competitive team available to me.

“If the last performances have been negative, I am clearly responsible. With the passion I have I focus on work and preparing for the match.”

Have your plays grown a lot as individuals?

“They are continuing their growth process. They are the ones who have to help us reach an important level in these matches. Players like Maignan. High level players who have to help us and they will do so tomorrow.”

How are Pulisic, Loftus, Theo and Chukwueze?

“They are fine. Chukwueze has a little less playing time but has been training for two days. Pulisic will come off and Chukwu will be ready to replace him.”
