hello members, today I have a question concerning linguistics. as when it is referred to as a scientific study, it means that, it follows scientific procedures in solving linguistic problems. In scientific researches, problem identification is the first procedure, followed by hypothesis formulation. The question arises on HOW DO WE IDENTIFY LINGUISTIC PROBLEMS IN LINGUISTIC RESEARCH?

Linguistics is about "language", humans use language. Now, in its multitude and with regards to the variety of needs and contexts, there is always a "problem" (an issue, situation that merits an investigation). Also keeping in mind that language is a "living" phenomenon; the changes hencewith attracts linguistic problems of varying degree and complexity e.g., codemixing and switching, vocab development and decay, language death and preservation, to mention but a few.
