I am in a (Certain Country) with many Indian friends due to my position and the place I once worked. Although, I have not and did not date Indian woman but I will do my best to explain Indians and their response to blacks (and other races of people)
Indians are OBSESSED with skin colour in ways that no one can understand but them. Most Indian men think that dark skin women of any race are ugly and stink based on her skin colour alone (which is crazy). I would say part of their prejudice comes from a preference for light skin even in non romantic situations. I've witnessed my Indian friends often making jokes about the skin colour of sports figures and actors that are dark skin.
Another part of their racism is motivated by their experience with other races growing up. In the UAE or US, Indians kids are often picked on and deemed ‘easy targets' . Often you will see Indians only hanging out with each other after high school despite growing up in diverse environments.
I have spoken to many Indian kids and they have stated that they dislike black and white kids in part due to how they were treated in school. It's important to note that many Indian kids will also state that they befriended many black kids because they accepted them for who they are.
Another element that factors into their racism is the vast differences between Indian culture and (perceived) Africans or black American culture. Many Indians think that Africans are “Jacky” and black Americans are lazy, violence, and less intelligent. I don't need to go into detail on this, as this comes from a dark ignorant place.
I think the most alarming element of Indian racism is that many Indians are very open about their hatred, which is frowned upon and rare in society.
I believe that most Indians are racist, but this will change in future generations.
