Government ‘saves millions' through bulk procurement of vehicles

The government has saved a large amount of money following the recently introduced system of procuring vehicles in bulk, TPJ has learnt.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Government Procurement Services Agency (GPSA), Mr. Josephat Mwambega, told TPJ in an exclusive interview, that the first batch of 50 vehicles under the new system had so far been delivered to the Agency yard in Dar es Salaam and was undergoing registration.
He said the vehicles have been ordered through GPSA by various government institutions.
"All dues have already been paid and the institutions will soon have the vehicles they ordered," he said, adding that the next batch of more than 100 vehicles was expected to arrive in the city in September this year.
