Lwengo.

President Museveni has urged Ugandans to develop a savings culture if they are to become rich like him.
Speaking at Mbiriizi Township in Lwengo District at the weekend, the President said he was happy that Lwengo residents had woken up and were beginning to take development issues seriously.

"It is important for you to develop a saving culture. When I speak about saving money, I know what I am talking about because I began saving money from the age of 21 years. It is that money that turned me to the rich man I am today," Mr Museveni said.

He made the remarks at the closure of the Lwengo District Economic Summit and Trade Fair 2014 and also commissioned about 370 village Saccos.

Mr Museveni said it was easy for him to save because he never drank alcohol or smoked.

"I also was not interested in girls. I just waved at the girls from a long distance because I did not want to squander my money on them. These days I hear people talking about increasing my salary but what need do I have for a salary?" he asked.
