The IEBC has dismissed media reports that is has made staff changes ahead of the October 17 repeat vote.

Via twitter, the polls agency asked Kenyans to be wary of such "false reports" as changes will be officially announced.

"We are faced with another spell of fake news. Kindly ignore story on purported staff changes at the commission. We tell it when there is."

However, chairman Wafula Chebukati said last Friday that heads will roll at the commission following the Supreme Court ruling against President Uhuru Kenyatta's elections win.

The highest court agreed with NASA leader Raila Odinga's arguments that the August 8 poll was not conducted in line with legal requirements.

Chief Justice David Maraga, in a ruling backed by four out of six judges, nullified IEBC's declaration of Uhuru Kenyatta as winner by more than 1.4 million votes.

"Somebody has to take responsibility for the judgement. We invite the DPP to investigate any of our staff who might have been involved in any scam," he said.

The National Super Alliance says the electoral commission cannot be trusted with the election and wants it reconstituted.

But Jubilee Party politicians argue the Opposition only wants a power-sharing deal.

On Monday, IEBC declared that only Uhuru and Raila will take part in the poll. Some candidates who were on last month's ballot have opposed the decision.
