You can just skip this , if you find it boring and head to the main story

Its time we Kenyans grew our own brains and started thinking for ourselves, You don't need any politician to tell you what to think, there is alot of information in the public domain, alot of propaganda, alot of fake news, and unless you think first, you will always find yourself clinging to every fake news released by your side f political divide or the other side...

Anyway, Back to topic .... There has been a narrative that has been going on that the government (i.e. people from that side) plans to rig the election together with IEBC, and I think, to a significant extent, there were and still are some sings supporting that narrative..... But in my own analysis, I think they realized they can't rig the election and thus the only other way is to supress voter turnout in the opposition strongholds....those are my views, Don't wanna dwell on that,

In any story, its always good to have a known enemy that you can unite against, and NASA has given its supporters a formidable enemy that is tangible -The Government + IEBC...

But following recent events, I think it was wrong for NASA to offer a blanket blame on iebc when IEBC too (not just NASA) thas been working hard to ensure no rigging happens..... Tuseme ukweli, IEBC imekua ikijaribu kufanya kazi.... While there are faults (like the voter regester and other things that make us suspect them), I think to a large extent, they have been doing their job, and its not fair for them to always be treated like donkeys, no matter what they do, they are the bad guys...... Until recently IEBC was purported to be in league with Jubelee to steal the election, and now with the murder of IEBC ICT manager (God give him peace), The opposition (My opposition) claim this guy was so significant and integral that the elections can't continue without him..... Mind you, the ICT manager had been going around TV stations explaining how the IEBC systems are tamper proof and no one can rig the elections with the systems they have put in place.... Even on the night of his brutal murder, he had participated in another TV discusion.... And in all this time he was saying this, No one believed him, we all had this narrative that IEBC+Government will rig the election and nothing anyone can say will convince us otherwise, Its only after he was killed that we now look back and say, "oh, he must have been telling the truth, and now we cannot do it without a guy like him"
Based on the reaction of IEBC chairmand Chebukati while at the mortuary, We saw that other lady who is part of the top echelon at IEBC crying and we saw iebc chair look lost, and based on his reaction statement, you could see that he did not see that one coming...... Are we therefor wrong to treat the IEBC as the enemy? cause in my view, IEBC could just be a victim too, and treating them as the enemy is actually undermining their work and in the process undermining ourselves ..

It is very important to track down and find the right enemy of the system, they say you can only find solutions once you accept that you have a problem and be able to adentify what that problem is.. Is the problem IEBC or something else, we could all train our eyes on IEBC kumbe the real enemy behind the scenes is working from a completely different angle...

I have said my peace

Haya, to to the main story, This are some of the steps that IEBC has put in place to make sure there will be no ballot staffing or rigging.... you can be the judge and tell me if you think anyone can rig is such a system using the usual methods of rigging

There are concerns that extra or foreign ballot papers will make their way to the ballot boxes or be used in other polling stations.

There are six reasons why such a scenario would not happen: First, unlike 2013, the ballot papers and result forms have been customised per polling station such that it is not possible to use ballot material not meant for the polling station.

Second, at the opening of the polling station, the presiding officers will show party agents the number of ballot papers issued and record them in the polling day diary, complete with the unique serial numbers.

At the end of polling, the presiding officer will record the number of unused ballot papers and provide the same to the agents.

Third, at three-hour intervals throughout polling day, the presiding officers will report to the returning officer the number of ballots issued and IEBC will track this against the voter turn-out at that particular time.

Any inconsistencies will be detected immediately and action taken against the presiding officers, in case of electoral offences.
Fourth, the KIEMS gadgets cannot allow presiding officers to transmit more results than the number of registered voters in a polling station.

This ensures that there is no ballot stuffing at any point and that any politician attempting to manipulate the system only stands to fail.

Fifth, the regulations are clear that the commission will annul results from any polling station that has more than the number of registered voters. This means that even in the worst case scenario of the failure of KIEMS, ballot stuffing is mitigated against.

Lastly, the agents of each party or candidate have a responsibility to ensure that these actions do not take place.

As Kenyans call on the commission to ensure free and fair elections, it is important that we hold accountable agents and observers in each polling station and urge them to carry out their part of responsibility with utmost professionalism.

Dr Roselyn Akombe Kwamboka is an IEBC Commissioner.

IEBC gives six reasons why ballot stuffing is impossible

It difficult to judge from any angle, though it is very easy to suspect each side including IEBC themselves on the way the came out to announce how active they were on their way to 2017 general election.
Was it so important to tell the audience?
Was that the right way of educating the citizens?
It brings a lot of questions than answers.

Free and fair elections ni relative, hivyo hapo Kenya ijiandae kwa Serikali ya mseto na Raila Odinga vinginevyo lazima kitanuka

Jubilee wants to win, so as NASA. I think each camp will try there level best to get the upper hand with results. Nowadays data serves determines election winner, unlike few years back where stuffed ballot boxes was the name of the game. Look what happen on US election with Russia connection.
