Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has said he will do his work the "Mafuguli" way.
The governor said he "won’t entertain nonsense", and will not shy away from speaking about Nairobi’s problems to the public.
"Shida iko kwa serikali yangu ya county. Watu walikuwa wananiguzaguza, chief officers na mawaziri wengine ati balozi ako hapa hii aibu yetu tutaongea kwa ofisi," he said.
(There is a problem in the county administration. Chief officers and some executives were nudging me not to talk about Nairobi's problems in the presence of the ambassador. They said I should discuss that the office).
Sonko spoke when he launched a tuberculosis clinic in Kangemi on Wednesday.
He acknowledged that City Hall owes the Kenya Medical Supplies Agency more than Sh2 million.
But the governor accused the previous administration of failing to pay the debt. He claimed medicine was diverted and sold.
"The matter is being investigated by DCI boss George Kinoti," he said.
Sonko praised the government for doing a good job in its "Linda Mama Initiative", but alleged some medical facilities were charging patients for services that are supposed to be free.
