IMF GDP Projections 2014 - 2021

Wy is it that the gap between Kenya and TZ is getting bigger??? sai its $20Billion and by 2021 Kenya's economy will have $30Billion on Tanzania...I read so many articles saying that TZ is overtaking Kenya...What a joke!!!!πŸ˜›πŸ˜›πŸ˜›
If you've read it on "so many articles" they can not all be wrong. Maybe you fail to see what Tanzania is baking.

When there is smoke, there is fire.

That was the EU's thoughts. But then each country being an independent entity that can make its choices in a big Union resulted to conflicting interests. These interests created frictions between nations and between nationals and brexit happened. That's when I realized that there aren't any friendly countries, just countries whose interests coincide with ours. And for that reason, a tight nit Union won't last for long, only a single huge nation can. But then, for 99% of the countries in the world, their boundaries and recognition have only been after a war so...

During pre-collonial times the EAC area as we know it was inhabited by one people, the Zanj. The colonialists came here and created their own boundaries to suit their interests but at our independence there was hardly any difference in ideologies between a Kenyan, Tanzanian and Ugandan. Even mwalimu Julius Nyerere delayed Tanzania's independence slightly so as to "wait for Kenya" in the hope that a single Swahili country could be formed. But since those days, we've unfortunately grown farther and farther apart as countries.

I don't see EAC growing beyond being business partners. The synergies are just not there. Due to endemic poverty, most govts will be more protective of their economies and in so doing hoping to better the lot of their people. When their economies grow past say $50b then the fears will dissipate and embracing each other to face even bigger economic threats from abroad will make EAC thrive and grow.

whatever tz is cooking, IDGAF....Fact: Kenya will always be ahead in every aspect

Nimetoa hii post from nigerian forum
Nigeria will have GDP figures higher than several European nations by 2021.....however, when u visit Nigeria, you will be shocked to see that there is no development at all....they call it the Giant economy while it is the most useless country in Africa....Oil economies are very misleading....Angola, Sudan both have bigger GDp figures than kenya but u cannot even compare these countries with mighty kenya.... kenya has way better infrastructure and modern looking cities....I pity my Africa

I asked MK254 yesterday, why Kenya is not the level of South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand? We all know Kenya has been on free market economy for the past 50 years when all those countries didn't even know which political system they should follow. I'm still waiting for that answer, because Ethiopia, Ivory coast, Tanzania Ghana can still see Kenya on the their radar.

President Moi

All I know Nigeria haven't utilise its capacity especially in agriculture because oil money was so easy to get. But what if they use their human capital to the maximum, they will go far. As we stand they've more educated people than the whole East Africa combine. But hey, its up to them to open their eyes and see the light.

To be honest I am actually glad East Africa walipata mafuta late. At least with the little resourceswe can say things are stable. Equitoria guinea has a gdp per capita ya 20000 usd but 60% of its population is very poor.

thats my post kwa nairaland

for one, the corruption in africa is wanting.....three of our presidents were so keen on making wealth and not developing the nation...Moi, the elder Kenyatta and the current president are billionaires and have thousands of hectares of land while many kenyans are now languishing in poverty....God will deal with them...they may have billions here but in the next lifetime, watalia na kusaga meno

True, I hope Kenya never make the Uhuru mistake again. After his term ends

You're right, better late than never. We have a lot case studies from Dutch disease, to Nigeria corrupt oil deals to Venezuela give giveaway oil. In Venezuela during Chavez you could fill the whole tank of fuel for $1 (One dollar). If it was me i could've invest more on people first and resources later. Because people can create what was previously unknown. Everything we use today was created from human brain, transportation, easy and fast communication, modern housing, abundant food supply, medicine and many more. Even though there is race to automation and autonomous, but human still have a huge part to play.

That is the most inteligent post nishawai toa huko
napenda kuingilia Nigerians sana...you should see how they get when you try compare Kenya or Ghana to Nigeria...hehe....mnasemanga Kenyans like to brag??? Nigerians ni moto...alafu English yao very poor...utaskia...wetin na be dis? (what is this)
