There is a great debate around this subject but the idea to start this thread specifically came after I saw a thread under Uchaguzi sub-forum that said, "Tanzanians have proven to have lowest IQ in the world by voting against change" (averaging 72). These allegations were directly pointed at majority (58.67%) of voters that by their lack of high IQ had subsequently affected their reasoning in connection with identifying who will be the better person to enact change after elections.

If we look at the list of top ten countries with highest IQ in the world, you will discover that in these countries the biggest part of their early learning is based on logic questions. In places like Korea, China, India, US etc a child is trained to solve logic questions since age 3 at kingdergarten. This is quite the opposite for us in Tanzania. In Tanzania a child is first introduced to logic calculations at age between 16 and18 through a branch of mathematics called Calculus.

DOES IQ MATTER IN LIFE?
a simple NO. This is my opinion, I dont believe having a high IQ gives a person any sort of advantage in life. It doesnt make you any smarter in resolving daily life trivials. I have personally met people who are regarded to have highest IQ in the world (Mensah Society) most of these people struggle with simple tasks, interaction and social life. Very rarely you will meet a person with highest IQ who is very outgoing for example. To do well in life you need to have the ability to socialize something Tanzanians have in abundance.

There is a great obsession among educated society in Tanzania and Africa in relation to IQ. It is also rather obvious that there is failure to differentiate having high IQ and having good enough reasoning or critical thinking. Even though the former can influence the latter, I believe that most people in Tanzania even though they might lack high IQ, they have an alternative weaponry of discerning who is genuine and who is not (in case of past election) and that to me is all they need to go through life. The ability to know who is for you and who is not, is way above having "highest IQ".

SO WHAT IS YOUR OPINION?
Qn. do you believe IQ can be trained? -

POS: if you do, is there a need to make an emphasis in early stages of education, and to what extend do you think this will impact the country development.
NEG: if you dont, can it be directly blamed for the progress in TZ? are there any significant evidence on chances we have missed because we are born with low IQ.

does having high IQ really matter to you? share your opinion.
