Mahusiano ya hali ya Utumbo mpana na magonjwa yasiyo ya kuambukiza ama NONCOMMUNICABLE DISEASES au LIFESTYLE DISEASES.
Communicable diseases like malaria, cholera and polio have become manageable due to recent advancements in medicines. However a new breed of diseases has developed, called ‘Lifestyle diseases' or Noncommunicable Diseases or Diseases of civilization such as heart disease, some cancers and diabetes, which are no longer a problem just in wealthy nations.

Globally 36million people between the ages of 30-69 years die prematurely each year from these diseases. This is equal to 63percent of all global death yearly. These diseases have emerged as bigger killers than infectious or hereditary ones.

Risk factors for these diseases include tobacco use, unhealthy diets and physical inactivity. Today we will take look at the most common lifestyle diseases that you need to take seriously.

What does WHO say about these:

"Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), such as heart disease, stroke, cancer, chronic respiratory diseases and diabetes, are the leading cause of mortality in the world."

This invisible epidemic is an under-appreciated cause of poverty and hinders the economic development of many countries. The burden is growing - the number of people, families and communities afflicted is increasing.

What are the common, modifiable risk factors of major NCDs?
They include tobacco, harmful use of alcohol, unhealthy diet, insufficient physical activity, overweight/obesity, raised blood pressure, raised blood sugar and raised cholesterol.

But is there any hope??
Yes WHO says "The NCD threat can be overcome using existing knowledge. The solutions are highly cost-effective."

Scientific report shows that 90% of these chronic diseases comes from UNHEALTHY COLON.
