We're yet to win the fight but I can proudly say the measures we took saved us.
Actually ours is targeted mass texting. Hot spots for covid are first identified, then the area is set for the exercise. Ask yourself, why are we doing that only in Nairobi and Mombasa unlike other areas in Kenya?. Note: it is as a result of stats that are being generated on daily basis that informs areas that are to be targeted for mass testing.
In Dar there is no need for mass testing because there are no mass (a lot of people) with COVID 19 symptoms!
Mass testing can be carried only if you are having a very big number of people with symptoms!! Under such circumstance you decide to test as much as you can in daily basis!!
For example you can be having 10,000 individuals with symptoms. Hence you embark on testing as much as you can, like the way they are doing in UK and USA and other countries which are heavily infected with corona virus!!
But if you have for example 20 people with symptoms you can test all of them in a day! That is not mass testing! Mass testing does not mean just going around and testing people as more as you can even though they dont have any covid 19 symptoms!! If Kenya is carrying mass testing it means that you are having a lot of people with symptoms and you are testing them as much as you can in a day (since you can not test them all) in order to confirm wheather or not they are having covid 19! Is that the case? Otherwise you are misusing the phrase "mass testing" in the context of Kenya!
