A man with a mission to make Zanzibar that is at
peace with itself and with others and a better place
to live for its citizens and visitors. I believe in the
power of the new generation to peacefully make
change for the better. I also believe this can only
be attained if we chose to embrace truth and
reconciliation and restore our sovereignty followed
by peaceful co-existence with Tanganyika through
Treaty based Union. My vision is to see Zanzibar
regain its past glory as a gateway to and from East
Africa and as a centre of excellence in learning in
which freedom, liberty, democracy, human rights,
the rule of law, political and religious tolerance, and
socially inclusive free market economy which brings
prosperity for all are the guiding principles. My view
of Zanzibar given its rich historical background as
a cultural pot-pourri is that it is Africa and yet
different from Africa, it is Arabia and yet different
from Arabia, it is Asia and yet different from Asia, it
is Europe and yet different from Europe and it is
America and yet different from America. It is just
unique. Based on that view, I want to see Zanzibar
becoming a centre of cultural exchange between
the East and the West.
