Israel launches 4th vaccine dose for over-60s
Queues were seen forming at vaccination centres in Tel Aviv, on Monday, as Israel launched a programme to administer a second booster of the COVID-19 vaccine for people over the age of 60 and vulnerable populations. The country became the first in the world to do so.
In addition to those over 60, the campaign is aimed at medical staff, residents of nursing homes, immunocompromised persons, and persons living in geriatric wards.
As the Omicron variant has spread worldwide, leading new infections to skyrocket over the holidays. Israel has recorded over 30 thousand new cases in the last week.
