Maxence Melo, a director and co-founder of Jamii Forums told Azania Post that new media (online) have opportunity to reach many people through the internet.
Tanzanian youth in higher learning institutions particular those who are studying mass communication have been advised to start investing in New Media (online), not only as self-employment but also in disseminating information.
Tanzania has more than 20 million users of internet, who rely on new media that reduces the amount of time for people to spend on existing "Old" Media such as television, radio and print media.
Maxence Melo, a director and co-founder of Jamii Forums told Azania Post that the new media have opportunity to reach many people through the internet which can be accessible on any digital device.
“Online media has grown very fast and usually containing interactive user feedback and creative participation, so it is high time for youth to invest on it and make it a good platform to advertise many essential issues,” he said.
Melo, who have been working in social network platform since 1998, said the new media is the only solution to unemployment grievance among graduates from Journalism industry.
He didn’t forget to give a piece of advice to both electronic and print media players to think of strengthen their Media houses and make them easily reach to their audience by establishing and using online too.
Nevertheless, Melo urged and suggested the online media operators to form their organization that will be standing for them, as well as dealing with online issues.
