Hadi sasa ni nchi nyingi zilizopiga marufuku matumizi ya sumu ya ‘Potassium Bromate’ kwenye uokaji wa mikate; Nazo ni Nchi zote za umoja wa ulaya, Nigeria, China, Peru, Korea ya kusini , Uingereza, Canada pamoja na Srilanka. Hapa Tanzania bado haijapigwa marufuku.

Potassium Bromate huchanganywa kwenye ngano ya mkate ili iweze kuwa na ugumu mzuri na pia iweze kuumuka juu vizuri zaidi.

Sumu hii inaweza kuleta madhara yafuatayo kwa mlaji wa mikate iliyochanganywa na KBR03:

- Kuharibika kwa figo (Complete renal failure)

- Inasababisha Kansa ya Figo (Renal Cell tumors)

- Magonjwa ya moyo na ushukaji wa B.P (Cardiovascular Instability with hypotension)

- Huaribu mfumo mzima wa ubongo (Nervous system impairement)

- Huaribu ini (Liver/ Hepatic tissue toxicity)

- Huaribu mfumo mzima wa upumuaji na kusababisha uharibifu wa njia za hewa mapafu, koo nk. na kufanya upumuaji kuwa wa shida (Respiratoty system impairement.

- Upotevu wa kusikia (Hearing Loss)

- Kansa za aina mbalimbali (A Carcinogenic substance)

- Hupunguza nguvu za kiume (Erectile Dysfunction)
