The political stalemate within ODM surrounding the referendum and party nominations has further deepened after Mombasa governor Hassan Joho came out in defence of embattled Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba. Joho said that he was the one who sponsored a costly campaign drive for Namwamba for the post of the Secretary General of ODM prior to the botched February 28 National Delegates Conference elections.
I personally paid for the four choppers our line-up used during the campaigns so unless he [Oburu Odinga] is branding me Mr Namwambas paymaster, he does not know what he is talking about, Joho said in response to Oburu Odingas claim that Namwambas campaign was funded by Jubilee. Namwamba had said that ODM leader Raila Odinga had no moral authority to call for the disbandment of the IEBC through a referendum and yet the party failed to hold the party elections successfully.
Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale however called on Namwamba to lend his support to the referendum calls and not to dismiss it as it was for the good of all Kenyans. Kalwale posted on his Twitter account that he had talked to Namwamba to convince him to support the amendment to the constitution. - See more at: I paid for Namwamba's four choppers, Joho now says | The Star
