Jubaland forces in collaboration with KDF seize key area from Al-Shabaab

The Jubbaland government forces along with Kenyan troops who are part of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) have taken over the control of Janay Abdalle area in Lower Jubba region.

Janay Abdalle is located between Kismayo and Afmadow in the Lower Jubba region, and military officials say the area has been a checkpoint for al-Shabaab for some time.

The Jubbaland and Kenyan forces launched their operation in Admadow district, and Jubbaland military officials who led the operation said they encountered resistance from Al-Shabaab before taking control of Janay Abdalle area.

While the Jubaland and Kenyan forces were conducting an operation between Afmadow district and Kismayo, they clashed with Al-Shabaab on the outskirts of Afmadow district, after launching a roadside attack.

Reports from Janay Abdalle area in Lower Jubba region say that the situation is calm, but Jubbaland and Kenyan forces are still conducting various operations.

The operation by Jubbaland and Kenyan forces took place in Janay Abdalle area of Lower Jubba region, after the President of Jubbaland yesterday ordered the troops to launch an operation against Al-Shabaab.
