Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) leaders on Sunday told off Deputy President William Ruto over his claims that the Opposition is not committed to offering solutions to the teachers strike.
They also said a planned impeachment motion is not a witch-hunt but a result of a careful assessment of how the government has failed to deal with national issues.
Mr Kalonzo Musyoka, the Wiper party leader, criticised Mr Ruto for dismissing Cords resolve to assist teachers to meet their day-to-day expenses as they seek better pay.
The teachers are pushing the government to honour a court ruling requiring it to pay them a 50 to 60 per cent salary increase.
It is a pity for Mr Ruto to claim that the solidarity account is ridiculous yet they have failed to comply with the law, Mr Musyoka said. He spoke when he opened a Wiper party branch office in Nairobi.

He was accompanied by the partys vice-chairman, Mr Mutula Kilonzo Jr, secretary-general Hassan Omar Hassan and Wiper-affiliated MPs.
The leaders criticised Safaricom for disclosing the amount of money so far raised in their paybill account, saying the company acted in breach of the confidentiality contract with its clients.
It is wrong for Safaricom to accept to be sucked into (the) political bickering of parties. They accepted to be used by the government to be part of the propaganda that the solidarity account is headed nowhere, Mr Omar said.
The leaders demanded a public apology from the company, saying it had shown that it could noit be trusted with safeguarding its customers account details.
We expected Safaricom to exercise professionalism. Why did it publish our account details without our consent? Mr Hassan asked.
