Stun hand grenade was hurled at Kalonzo’s home, police confirm

The National Police Spokesman Charles Owino and Nairobi CID boss Nicholas Kamwende led the investigations at Kalonzo Musyoka’s residence in Karen where unknown gunmen hurled a device at his home on Wednesday at 2am.

Owino said a stun hand grenade, a weapon which is used to scare but not to injure, was thrown at the Wiper Party leader’s residence.

He maintained that police also found two live bullets in the compound and they were investigating into claims of gunfire during the dawn attack.

A team of detectives from bomb squad unit led by Eliud Langat were deployed to conduct investigations at Kalonzo’s home soon after news of the attack went out.
Confirming the incidence, his personal assistant identified as Matiki said the attackers arrived there on board a private car and drove past the main gate after realizing there were private guards on duty.

Kalonzo termed the attack as an act of intimidation.
In an interview at his Karen home, the former Vice President termed the attack at as an attempt to intimidate the Opposition over their strong position on electoral reforms and not anything to do with his failure to attend the NASA rally at Uhuru Park on Tuesday.

Security detail to Kalonzo and other NASA principals had earlier on been withdrawn without explained reason
