Web Developers - 3 Vacancies – (Re-advertised)
Purpose of the job
To provide technical support and necessary guidance in the development and implementation of various systems including web-based applications and internet portals aimed at supporting TRA business operations.
Major activities of the job
- To conduct systems analysis;
- To specify and document user requirements for new systems;
- To design, develop and maintain various systems including new web-based systems and applications;
- To support and enhance the existing web-based applications;
- To design and develop web interfaces for various systems in place;
- To assume responsibility of administering all web-servers and web-based systems in the authority;
- To advise the ICT management in planning of overall TRA strategy regarding development and sustaining of web solutions;
- To monitor web servers and site performance on daily basis;
- To work with existing developers in software development projects;
- To liaise and provide technical support to all users and stakeholders of TRA web-based systems, including staff, banks and other revenue authorities bordering the country.
- To undertake necessary initiatives to keep abreast of the rapid advancement of ICT industry;
- To work with a minimum supervision;
Qualifications and experience
The applicant should have a minimum of a Bachelors' degree in computer science or related field with at least three years demonstrated experience in development of computer applications including web applications and internet portals. In addition the applicant MUST have skills in:
- PHP and Visual Studio.Net tools with thorough working knowledge of Apache and IIS as web servers; Oracle 10g and MySQL as databases; Linux and Windows Server 2003 as operating systems; and H and-written HTML, XML, SQL
- Understanding of object oriented programming concepts and familiarity with oracle database administration, encrypting transmission over the internet and concept of web and windows services and managing multiple priorities.
- Ability to customize web solutions developed using a variety of tools is an added advantage
