Kenya a global trendsetter

FYI, the rate of povery in the US is greatly lower than in China. The standards of life in America is also much higher than in China.
The rapid economic growth in Chana hasnt in fact percolated deep into the society......there are still hundreds of millions of Chinese languishing in poverty, especially in the rural areas.
But that fact is not apparent to the world due to the Chinese authority's tendancy to stifle the flow of information coming out of that country, unlike in America where the flow of information is unbridled.

Again, the spectacular rise of the Brazilian economy, and the subsequent drop in poverty rates there during Lula de Silva's period had less to do with his past economic background or his political ideological leanings.
The external factors and prudent management of the economy by that regime fostered the successes of Brazil in that period, a feat that can be attained even by a person from the elite society and a capitalist to the core.
Brazil in that period during Lula's term was in fact operating largely as a capitalist state as opposed to a socialist one.

Actually for a country to develop first you must take time to organise yourself democratically and economically.Kenya has been doing this very well and when just some few glitches are out of the way this country is going to be unstoppable. What many Tanzanians don't know is that kenya chose democracy first .

I'm not sure we're you got your statistics between America and China, but up to 2015 China had 13.7%of its population under the poverty line while America had 15.1%. Before Obama came up with Obama care, 40% of US population could not afford basic health. It is still common to see poor America queuing for two to three days just to see a doctor from a mobile facility run by a charities. In a space of three years, China has used more cement than America have used in entire 21st century. America is still big, but the level of homelessness or homicide can not be compared to any country in the developed world. Just a simple question, can you compare the level of investment China have invested in Africa in last 10 year to what America invest in Africa in last 50 years?

I wish your theory of anyone will have understood how it feels to be on bottom end of an income scale. Before Lula came to power Brazil didn't have social security scheme, the conservative or so called elite, didn't want or even thought that poor people deserve decently housing or laws which guarantees their minimum pay. Social welfare fund had transform the lives of million poor Brazilians and lift them out poverty line in an imaginable scale, all you have to do is to make sure your child goes to school and you visit healthcare facilities for medical screening every three month. Elite they had years to come up with something as simple as that idea, but they didn't, all they did is to acquire huge land, control all line of business, pushing the poor into shanty towns so that they could use the land to build their commercial properties. ....does that ring the bell?
It's good to see you keep the belief that the elite will have poor people at the center of their attention, but the history served us with painful memories of conservative politicians says this on their manifesto but only end up doing opposite while on power. Poor Americas who actually went out to vote for Trump after Trump promised to bring back their lost jobs especially on rust belt of middle America, only to see him appointing a billionaire after billionaire who some of them want to see Obama care torn apart so that they can keep the expensive medical insurances policies. It's to early to say what will trump do, but the analysis are saying it will cost more to produce iPhone in US compare to produce it China. Apple don't make any parts used to produce an iPhone, Apple will have to ship those small parts to US before they even think of assembling one iPhone.

Mko na highways na Wakenya wanatembea humo on foot hawana pesa ya nauli kwa matatu.

Katika parks mnakaa morning to evening no jobs no food.

Chakuraa everywhere.
Why is your thinking so skewed? Is this kind of thinking that makes Tanzania poor?

You forgot that, Kenya and Tanzania took a different path soon after independence. Kenya decided to enrich its self by capitalize with what it has got, while Tanzanian took huge task of helping liberate the countries which where under operation of foreign powers. It's a sentiment which continues today. You can quickly notice even here on JF, Kenyans always find it hard to understand why Tanzanian don't utilise what they have got? Kenyans thinks if they have huge land and resources like Tanzanian they will be sitting on the top of the world by now. While Tanzanian has tendency of waiting until everyone is on board. On owe side this doesn't bother us much, because we know the moment we start following Kenyans way and enrich the few elite families, it will be the end of our unity and that the price we are not willing to pay.

We did tried to liberalise our economy from 1995 all the way to 2015, guess what, it didn't work, our companies where sold under the market value and end up dying soon after they where sold, only to be replaced by cheap import from Kenya and South Africa. We are in the same position as Russia was during Putin second time he was a president, taking over all the state assets which Oligar bought with American money at knockdown prices. I think if you go to China today you'll realise they have open up some part of its economy for foreign investment but minority is still under government hands, and guess what, those companies under government control are the one building Kenyans railway today. There is nothing wrong with states own business what happen to TANESCO it will take Kenya 6 month to a years to get rid of lazy boss because of the level of bureaucracy experienced in Kenya especially if the the lazy boss come from certain group of people.

Your last statement is wrong.See take the case of Kenya airways which although the government has 29.73 shares it did not make Ceo mike mbuvi resign It was the investors.Kenya private sector is more efficient than you think. what the government ensures is efficient and sustainable PPP's (public private partnerships) it is in this way that ease of doing business is enhanced. When the government makes a mistake private sector intervenes and warns and when the private sector has a problem ,the government intervenes .Now ,look at the new tax laws in Tanzania .Already companies are scaling back cos the government never took into concideration about the private sector in tanzania who actually run most of the economy.

@Mwanzil .What happened in Tanesco is fast i agree .But Iam sure they never took into concideration all market forces sorounding tanesco and they implication it will have in the long run.We Kenyans know that the government is not always correct that is why there are no rush decisions.Even (just an example )the electoral body(IEBC)had to go through a long procedure untill we were sure that removing the commisiiners was the write move for all the people.I know this does not apply in bussiness but it makes a good example .The government alone can not rule everything.Even in China in the future they will have to realise that capitalism will always win over communism .

I have just heard that Magufuli just fired Tanzania Power Manager for tariff hike?

And imagine the Company was making loses and needed 19% tariff hike to be profitable, then the CEO hikes by half of what is needed and he is fired! How is this Magufuli? Dah

I'm not sure if you've follow what is going on inside China, you'd better kill all the Chinese leadership before they agree with you that one day they will realise that capitalism wins. This is the country which had just managed to lift 80mil people out of poverty in the space of just 7 years. The same size of Germany population, it is the same country which is planning to build the new and modern silk railroad from western China to France, opening a new line of goods and services between two continents. It will be amazing to see Chinese abandoned the socialism which has a hint of capitalism to fully fledged capitalism.

All over social media today, majority of Africans wished they had leader who can take swift action like president Magufuli. I'm a bit surprised you're saying this won't happen to Kenya, you said Kenyan people like to check and balance every decision their government takes. This is the same Kenya which kept saying Tanzanians is too slow making decisions about EAC, and Tanzania is holding everyone back. But when it comes to national issues, Kenyans need more time. I thought Kenya was county in hurry, maybe I was wrong.

If the boss of TANESCO decided to proceeds with the price hike, without seeking a permission from the relevant ministry, only to please is backers who are private sector waiting to win overpriced procurement deals, that boss will not see the next day as CEO of state company. You don't wait for shareholders or parliament to deal with corruption, you'll not win corruption war just by babying someone who failed to take his/her responsibility. You wrote before, that Kenya can learn nothing from Tanzania, here is the lesson right in front of you. You fight corruption especially White collar corruption head-on, not shying away behind the bureaucratic system which is used to shield some individuals while majority poor citizen suffers.

And imagine the Company was making loses and needed 19% tariff hike to be profitable, then the CEO hikes by half of what is needed and he is fired! How is this Magufuli? Dah
It could've been even more loses if the CEO was allowed to go ahead with his plan. Keywords Corruption, Procurement, Enrichment, Kickback.

Couldn't they have negotieted with the investors to come up with a suitable plan to suit both prices?Iam sure firing the ceo and imposing hikes is not a good decision

Is Kenya EA superpower? Chini ya utawala wa CCM hadi kufikia GDP $ 69 billion miaka 53 (hadi 2069)assuming other variables remain constant.CCM must go.
