Kenya – Africa’s infrastructure powerhouse

Is this how u roll bro ,after painting my country you play the victim ? You makin me feel like I did something wrong by posting my countries towns now u revert to been a victim
What did I say about your cities? Was it not u who came here attacking Kenyans and calling our country a hungry, poor, aid dependant country. I just had to show u that yours isnt a bed of roses either.

More pipo are going hungry over there than here, I restrained from revealing some more societal problems which are more prevalent over there than here in a long shot, but I held back.

I spoke no shit about your cities, they are world class. But SA has its own inadequecies, typical of virtually every developing country.

If I had hurt ur feelings , sorry man. Just dont throw stones if ur dwelling in a glasshouse. Stop acting the victim.

If u disagreed with the both reports, u shld have fowarded you quibbles to to the authors who are non- Kenyan experts and vent your frustrations on that dotard of a president called Zuma or the Guptas or whoever is running SA.

Kenyans yu shuld be selective while preparing articles,Kenya infrastructures powerhouse?yu must be kidding ...that is y t-time is here to prove yu wrong, next time learn to tell urself what's pleases yu without irritation others..

A: Apart from a level value of properties, peculiar features are
1. high population density,
2. high crime rate,
3. persistence of sporadic diseases,
4. difficulty in upgrading the area with basic social infrastructure.
.....
all these, including insufficient availabity of social amenities and widespread poverty is enuff to categorize such a place as a slum!
B: Informal settlements and unplanned settlements can be used interchangeably. Though informal can also be refered as the pieces of land which have not been well registered and documented in cadastral system.

I trust we are now in the same metro.

Kibera, Khayelitsha, etc are categorized as informal settlements! Google it!

Informal settlements are slums! Now, if u are telling me that informal settlements and unplanned settlements mean more or less the same thing...it's confusing, very confusing.

Your argument is that is that unplanned settlements are marked by the availability of some descent dwellings amongst the many poor houses, so on that basis alone they are not considered as slums, regardless of the fact that the majority of the residents- the ones living in the poor houses have no running water, toilets, electricity, security, medical facilities, widespread poverty....but arent these the characteristics of slums!

Kibera slum in Nairobi is not entirely comprised of shanties. My former boss lives in Kibera, not a ramshack, but in a very big house in a gated community. The estate is called Onyonka (google Onyonka estate, images), it is in Kibera. And it is not the only one.

Otiende estate is near Kibera, so is Ngei. Madaraka Estate is in Kibera. Woodly Estate....borders the slum. Sandwitched btwn Otiende and the Langata cemetary is this other estate I have no idea what it is called....it is still part of the larger Kibera. The modern NHC housing.....very adjacent to Kibera
slum.

So based on your argument, isnt Kibera then more of an "unplanned settlement" than a slum, than say Tandale in Dar?

.,.....and out of all Africans, only a South African decided to come in full force with insults and disparaging a whole country for an article that speaks about infrastructure growth and not the status quo? So much for a people that claims to 'concentrate on themselves'.

pal,we didnt write that report and no one is denying the fact that SA is ages ahead in terms of development..we coming up to and that is also a fact

This guy has issues. Nobody even denies the fact that SA is miles ahead of Kenya in infrastructure. It seems that the guy didn't either read the article or understand it or is just one of those keyboard warriors with nothing else to do in their lives.

Good morning good people. Why does not T-time invite another South African to the forum. Till then I assume that he is a Danganyikan out to trash Kenya because clearly they are beat in the Dar vs Nai thread

You are deviating from the topic.

No, crime and violence is not the order of the day in Kibera. Tgere are sections of Kibera srea inhabited by the wealthy and are well guarded.
