A 48-year-old man from Muhoroni, Kisumu County, is being held by police after allegedly beating his 15-year-old daughter to death for leaving home without his permission.
Maurice Owino Owaga was arrested and taken to the Chemelil Police Station after he was caught red-handed trying to bury the body of the minor.
The suspect’s 14-year-old daughter is also said to be nursing serious injuries sustained during the same beating.
Confirming the incident, Deputy County Commander Erick Wanyonyi said Mr. Owaga will be arraigned in court and charged with murder.
Mr. Wanyonyi warned parents not to turn to corporal punishment on their children even as the long holiday occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic continues.
