Kenya will now be the second country in sub Saharan Africa after south Africa that will be able to do mass testing of Covid19 samples.
Kemri has repurposed the Cobas 6800/8800 machines available in government testing facilities in Busia,Nairobi, eldoret, Kisumu, Nakuru, Kilifi and Mombasa to be able to handle at least 35,000 samples in 24 hours from the current 600 per day .

Also 2 private laboratories will be enlisted for the mass testing, since they also have the same machines.
In a twist of irony, response to diseases that brought Kenya to its knees in the last decade — Aids, tuberculosis and a brush with the deadly avian flu in 2009 — is what has enabled this breakthrough.

Also another machine, GeneXpert, uses the Cepheid's Covid-19 test and is able to provide accurate results in 45 minutes, testing for Covid-19 is currently done on viral genetic material obtained from nose and throat swabs using reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR).

Kenya has received praise from the Africa CDC and it's American doppelganger for it's improved laboratory capacity , while the Africa CDC head Dr John Nkengasong, has said that cases in Africa are under reported due to a lack of facilities for mass testing

Also will be the second country in Africa with the highest number of infections and probably deaths like South Africa, get prepared.

All those infected will be put in quarantine and the spread between person shall reduce tremendously.

Unlike us in Tz we dont know who is infected and who is not infected...and just say we put everything in God's hands.

Hapa sasa hata majirani ambao kwao imekua mtihani, itabidi waanze kutuma sampuli zao huku tuwapimie.

How about number of deaths, are you going to put under quarantine?, than why there is high number of death in South Africa compared to those other countries in Sub sahara Africa.

The only way to curb the spread is blanket quarantine and if possible "lockdown", there is nor any sophisticated equipment can control or reduce the spread, otherwise those highly developed countries with high technologies wouldn't on crisis.

Duuh! Mkuu punguza kejeli
Ulitaka tusizaliane hovyo!?

Are you a prophet of doom or so? Are you a witch? You seem to concentrate so much on infections and deaths. I have never seen your post on recoveries. For your information, the number of recoveries globally are higher than the number of deaths. The number of deaths in Kenya right now is 7 which is 3% of total cases(189). Tz is 5 which is 9% of total cases (32). ...So it's ironical to wish Kenya Mass deaths because we shall be testing more forgetting your own country has a higher % of death rate. In any case which better, test and mitigate or fail to test and let people infect themselves and wait till it's full blown!Think

Do you know death rate in Tanzania is 9.3% while in Kenya is 3.1%? Hide your stupidity.

rudi kwenye mada yako test ata 1000 kwa siku umeshindwa kufanya leo unataka kupiga domo eti 35000 kwa siku ebu fichaga ujinga wako sometime
