Kenya: Konza meeting centre tender now approved construction to start

After south korea confirmed the commencement of construction of Kaist (Kenya Advanced Institute Of Science & Technology) in Konza city, modelled after Kaist in Daedeok Innopolis, Daejeon, South Korea .

Today GOK has revealed that a final contractor has been identified and tender awarded for the construction of Konza Meeting Centre.

The procurement regulator has approved a tender awarded by the Konza City Development Authority to build a conference facility paving the way for the project to start.

The authority awarded Kenyan developer, Parklane Construction Limited the contract on June 26 this year after bidding Sh1.43 billion for the job.

The moves comes as a big boost for the President Uhuru Kenyatta pet project part of the Big Four pillars that his government has identified as critical in achieving the country’s development goals.

Konza city has attracted attention from all the big technology companies in the world. Microsoft, Google, Facebook, Ali baba, Infosys are among 40 technology companies that committed in 2019, to build campuses and technology hubs in the city.
