Mamlaka ya Kilimo na Chakula (AFA) Nchini Kenya, imesema pamoja na Tozo hizo, pia matumizi ya Kanuni za Mazao ya Mirungi (Miraa) zilizochapishwa kwa mara ya kwanza Aprili 2023, zitaanza kutumika tarehe hiyo.
Kutakuwa Kodi ya 2% inayotozwa kwa bidhaa za Mirungi zinazopelekwa nje ya Nchi na 4% kwa zinazoagizwa kutoka nje. Atakayekiuka na kutiwa hatiani, atalipa Faini isiyozidi Tsh. 8,589,715, au kifungo cha mwaka mmoja au vyote kwa pamoja.

Usishangazwe na Kenya pekee, Serikali ya Uganda pia imesharuhusu Kilimo cha zao la Bangi kwa masharti kusafirisha Nje ya Nchi kwaajili ya matumizi ya Dawa na sio kutumika ndani ya Nchi hiyo.

The Miraa levy will come into effect on July 1, 2023.
The Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA) made the announcement via a notice further noting that the Crops (Miraa) Regulations 2023 was first published in April 2023.
"Whereas the implementation of licensing procedures was rolled out immediately after the publication, the Implementation of the Miraa Levy was delayed as the development of enabling framework was underway. The e-platform has now been completed on the AFA's Integrated Management Information System," reads the notice.
"In this regard, the Authority hereby notifies the general public that the Miraa Levy provided for under Regulations 31 of Crops (Miraa) Regulations, 2023 shall take effect from 1" July 2023."
The Crops (Miraa) Regulations state that there shall be a levy imposed on miraa products destined for export based on Free on Board value at a rate two percent, imported miraa products at a rate of four per cent of the customs value.
The remittance of the levy to the authority must be made no later than the tenth day of the month following the month in which the levy was originally due.
“The fees payable for licenses, renewal of licenses and permits under these regulations shall be as set out in the Third Schedule and may be reviewed from time to time. Any charges on traded produce on transit shall be charged once at the point of exit in the County of origin," reads the regulations.
“A person who commits an offence under these regulations for which no penalty is prescribed, shall be liable, upon conviction, to a fine not exceeding Ksh.500,000, or to a term of imprisonment for a period not exceeding one year or to both in accordance with section 37 of the Act.”
