Kenya Maize Production 2018 - 47.4 million Bags
Kenya's Demand - 52 Million Bags
Deficit - 4.6 million bags

Tanzania Maize Production - 15.9 million .
Tz's Demand - 13.3 million Bags
Surplus - 2.6 million bags.

Because of the deficit kenya has to import over 6 million bags of Maize.Kenytans should be diverse to avoid over reliance on Maize products.
 
Yani ku produce kote huku maize still mwafa njaa??!!
This is misuse of ugali aisee!!!

Sawa ila kwetu hakuna hunger and famine km Kenya.
 
Poor journalism as usual! There's no way kenya of around 50 mln produces that amount n yet hunger and Tanzania of of 57mln n having bumper harvest to an extent of exporating. The figure for Tanzania r in tonnes n not bags!

Kenya produces more food than Tanzania. That is a fact of life.
Tanzania consumes less food than Kenya. Another fact.

The reason there is occasional hunger in some parts of Kenya has little to do with food production, and more to do with food distribution.

No one ever dies of hunger in Nairobi or other urban areas. It is always those living in deserts hundreds of kilometres from any urban area.

Even when you hear of hunger in Turkana, a lot of food is being wasted in the rest of the country.

And eliminating hunger will be a tall order unless the Turkana and other similar communities continue not to farm, and refuse to join the rest of the civilisation in urban centres.

It could be true,Unajua Kenya watu wanatumia mahindi Sana, wakenya wengi hawatumii ugali wa mhogo kama ilivyo Tanzania ,huku kwetu watu wanalima mahindi na mpunga , mihogo wanalima Kwa kiasi kidogo Sana eneo la kilifi tofauti na ilivyo Tanzania, Halafu pia eneo kama la turkana watu Kwa kiasi kikubwa wanatumia mahindi na sio mchele sasa ukisikia njaa ipo turkana vyakula vingine vipo tu Ila wanapata ugumu kuvitumia maana wamezoea ugali.
