Kenya records 167 new COVID-19 infections; highest single-day cases

Kenya has recorded 167 new COVID-19 cases marking the highest number of infections recorded in a single day since the outbreak of the disease in the country.

The new cases, which were confirmed following the testing of 2833 samples, now brings the total number of infections in the country to 2767.

The positive cases include, 162 Kenyans, and five (5) foreigners.

In a press briefing on Sunday, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe pointed out that the youngest of the new cases is an 11 months old baby with the oldest being 75 years.

The 167 cases are distributed as follows: Nairobi (54), Mombasa (47), Busia (28), Kiambu (14), Uasin Gishu (11), Kisumu (4), Machakos (3), and one case each in Homa Bay, Kwale, Makueni, Migori, Siaya and Turkana.

At the same time 46 more patients have been discharged raising the number of recoveries to 752 while the death toll now stands at 84 after one more patient succumbed to the disease.
