The Kenya Rugby League Federation finally has a new logo. This is a culmination of a five weeks long logo search competition that attracted a total of 456 entries from both local and foreign-based graphic designers.

The competition kicked off on 14th July running till the 30th of July 2020, is the open window for participants to enter their creative works. The entries were rigorously reviewed, evaluated and scrutinized to carefully select and shortlist the top ten (10) logo entries.

The second and the last stage of the process involved the members of the Public, by subjecting the ten shortlisted logos to a one-week (12th – 17 August 2020) online voting process to choose the favorite and ultimate KRLF logo.

“We decided to involve the members of the public as a way of introducing the Kenya Rugby League Federation brand to the wider public. Secondly to make it more inclusive, Public being our potential fan base and very crucial stakeholders of the game”. Says Quicks Nyakwaka Chairman KRLF.

“We are glad the winning logo has been decided upon by Kenyans who deemed it fit to participate and help make the right choice bringing out the true Kenyan spirit of “UMOJA NI NGUVU” and we sincerely thank them for their time and resources”. Added Nyakwaka.

According to Homeboyz Entertainment Ltd, Sports Director Eric Ngure “The winning logo met all the attributes KRLF was looking for by being internationally recognized as uniquely Kenyan. “Kenyans who took part have spoken loud and clear, their opinion in the logo examination was vital hence the campaign being dubbed “You be the judge, select the best”.

The contestants were expected to think outside the box, be creative enough to come up with a logo that is original, novel, and capture the colors of the Kenyan National flag. Also, the logo was to represent strength, courage, sturdiness, and speed as the key attributes and spirit of the game.

The eventual winner will next week collect a cash prize of Khs 50,000 as a token of appreciation.

KRLF is in the process of structuring, streamlining, and branding all in readiness for maiden Rugby League season kick-off.
