No one can cross your border but you can't anyone's border too!When KAF acquire the F16s then it's game over for whoever might think of crossing us. The F5 tigers (think we have an inventory of 29) have proven themselves over the years and I'm surprised some are questioning their capabilities.
F16s are a dream for any fighter jet enthusiasts. If only guys at DoD could flex more with acquisition of the Eurofighter Typhoons [emoji7].
No offence but as it stands, in the region the only other Air Forces worth writing something about are the Ugandan and Ethiopian Air Forces.

Coz mtapewa masharti Hadi Ni wapi mkayatumie..plus ulazima wa kuyafanyia service wao wenyewe..Ongoing talks between Kenya and the U.S. should result in the Kenya Air Force buying and fielding new F-16 fighters, which would make Kenya the first country in sub-Saharan Africa to own and operate the Lockheed Martin-made jet. Such an acquisition would cap a consistent military hardware and software upgrade that the KDF has undergone since 2013.
Aside from partnering with the United States to bolster its military superiority in the air, Kenya has courted other partners. These include the acquisition of two AH-1F Cobra attack helicopters from the Jordanian military after a state visit to Kenya by Jordan’s King Abdullah that culminated in the signing of a military training and cooperation pact between the two countries.
Kenya’s military has also acquired a further six Grob G120A basic trainer aircrafts from Germany. Kenya is currently the only African country operating this type of military aircraft.
The KDF have acquired four attack helicopters from Russia, inlcuding Mi-28 Havoc attack helicopters. The Mi-28 is an all-weather, day-and-night attack helicopter that will serve the KDF in strategic military operations both in Somalia or elsewhere in the region. The Mi28 comes with an armored cockpit with air-to-air and air-to-ground attack capabilities.
The KDF also acquired eight light combat helicopters from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). These are the Fennec AS550C3 aircrafts, which the KDF says offers superior air-to-air combat capabilities, and can be used for other roles such as medical air evacuations and as a transport platform.
The AS550C3s join an existing fleet of AS350B3 acquired from Airbus Helicopters. From Italy, the KDF has acquired three C-27J Spartan transport planes and a number of AW139 utility helicopters from Italian defense manufacturer Leonardo Helicopters. The number of AW139s ordered by the KDF is yet to be established.
These military hardware acquisitions underline Kenya’s thirst to not only better equip its military, but also to partner with its regional and international allies in battling terrorism in the Horn of Africa region. At present, Kenya’s military forces are still active in Somalia under the African Union and United Nations backed regional peace initiative dubbed African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).

It is also cheap and carries more ammo. The combat version that kenya will buy is the AC-208 eliminator cessna.
The cockpit of 208 Eliminator integrates a combat-proven avionics suite. It features large digital screens that provide high-definition visuals of surroundings and route maps. The displays present key information of flight characteristics and mission sequences to enhance the situational awareness of the pilots and other crew aboard the aircraft.
The aircraft is also equipped with high-definition electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) sensors with integrated laser designator, as well as a flight data recorder and a cockpit voice recorder. The communication requirements are served by beyond-line-of-sight (BLOS) and line-of-sight (LOS) systems.
The 208 Eliminator features a highly sophisticated modular and reconfigurable weapon system. The firing power of the aircraft is assisted by four AGM-114 dual rail HELLFIRE air-to-surface missiles (ASMs). Each wing hard-point is attached with two missiles.
The anti-tank warheads of AGM-114 guided missiles can destroy long-range enemy targets, with high degree of accuracy. The maximum firing range of the AGM-114 guided missile is 8,000m.
The aircraft is also armed with 2.75in (70mm) rocket pods including the Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS) or Guided Advanced Tactical Rocket (GATR) or other guided rockets. Each wing is installed with a single guided rocket pod.

Very true, has really boosted KDF.Even just operations tu and co-ordination capabilities.Hawa Al shabab the only good thing wametusaidia nayo ni kupush our military to modernise and expand it's capabilities. KDF in 2012 is not even close in terms of competence compared to the one in 2020.

You don't say? From the looks of it DoD have very good options on the table when time comes to upgrade fighters. And I'm particularly glad we are embracing western tech.Talks were in place to buy the Saab JAS 39 Gripen , looks like a better buy.

Tanzania has begun the last phase of its aviation sector modernisation plan with the commissioning of four radar systems worth $29.6 million, which will give it complete control of its airspace. It has been using Kenya’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport’s radar system.
The country’s largest airport, Julius Nyerere International Airport, is expected to have a new terminal by June next year. This would cut Dar’s reliance on Nairobi for transit flights by some airlines.
