Cameroon come from behind to beat Kenya

Cameroon completed their Africa Cup of Nations build up with an emphatic 3-1 mauling of Harambee Stars in a thrilling match played at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
Cameroon, who depart on Monday for Luanda, Angola where they are drawn in group D together with Gabon, Zambia and Tunisia, are aiming to win the title and chose Nairobi as their final base for training. Cameroon open their campaign on Wednesday against Gabon.
Kenya went ahead in the 8th minute after James Situma shot past Espanyol goalkeeper Carlos Kameni.
Situma was put through from a shot free kick that he beat Kameni with a low drive. But that seemed to be the last threat that the Indomitable Lions, though Kenya dominated the proceedings.
However against the wave, Cameroon put the scores level in the 36 minute when Achille Webo, a striker with Spanish side Mallorca, headed in the ball off the cross bar from Newcastle United's Geremi Njitap free kick to see the two sides head to the breather at par.
Cameroon returned with strong resilience as they pinned Kenya to their half seeking to win the game.
Cameroon got the lead in the 56 minute after a defence mistake between Pascal Ochieng and goalkeeper Wilson Oburu that left Achille Emana (Real Betis) to collect the ball and stroll it into the net for the second for Indomitable Lions.
The third goal came just two minutes later after a neat move by the Cameroon side who cut through the Kenyan defence to allow Mohamadou Idrissou of SC Freiburg (Germany), to tap into an empty net.
A fair crowd turned up to cheer the Indomitable Lions but were left disappointed as neither Inter Milan striker Samuel Eto'o or Arsenal's midfielder Alex Song were fielded.
It is the first time Cameroon has beaten Kenya. The last time the two sides met in Nairobi, during the Africa Natiosn Cup qualifiers in 1997, the game ended in a barren draw. In 1987 they had a 3-3 thriller for the All Africa Games.
Meanwhile, African football leaders were to meet Angolan government officials on Saturday to seek assurances on the security of players at the African Nations Cup finals after Friday's attack on the Togo team bus.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) had already said the January 10-31 tournament would proceed despite the attack in Cabinda, in which the driver was killed and nine others were injured. CAF president Issa Hayatou will now meet Angola's prime minister Paulo Kassoma in Luanda on Saturday.
"They will meet to take decisions to guarantee the smooth running of the competition," said a CAF statement released early on Saturday. (Reuters)
