Kenya Airways has become the first airlinein Africa to contract US aerospace giantBoeing for its Consumable & Expendable Services package. The deal has a duration of five years and will initially cover more than 18 700 parts. In subsequent phases, the number of parts covered by the agreement will rise to 35 700.
The deal also covers services, and these parts and services will support Kenya Airways’ fleet of Boeing airliners. The East African carrier will have access to a worldwide system of on-demand services and parts. This support from Boeing will allow the airline’s maintenance activities to be run at optimal efficiency.

In consequence, it will increase the reliability and reduce the turnaround times for the airline’s fleet. “This programme will provide unparalleled support for our fleet of 737s and 787-8s and we expect to continue to grow our operations with increased reliability and quicker turnaround times,” affirmed Kenya Airways Chief Operating Officer Jan de Vegt.
Boeing’s Consumable & Expendable Services programme provides the most economical and comprehensive solutionfor Kenya Airways,” stated Boeing senior VP commercial sales and marketing Ihssane Mounir. “With this programme. Kenya Airways can rely on Boeing’s resourcesand global presence and focus on their core business of serving their passengers.”

Kenya AirwaysBoeing fleet is composed of 14 737 single-aisle and eight 787-8 Dreamliner wide-body airliners. The 737 fleet is subdivided into two 737-300F freighters, four 737-700 airliners and eight 737-800 airliners. The 787s will inaugurate a new non-stop Nairobi/New York service in October.
The only non-Boeing types in the Kenya fleet are 15 EmbraerE190 regional airliners. Embraer and Boeing recently agreed to create a joint venture company which would include the Brazilian manufacturer’s commercial jets business.

The business deal will see KQ access the Boeing's global network of spare parts and on-demand services anywhere and anytime in the world. .

While KQ became the first airline in Africa to have access to Boeing’s consumable and expandable services, meant to improve its fleet’s reliability and turnaround time our friends over the border bado have a dreamliner plying domestic routes like a matatu. Yaani Instant wear and tear...hii ni wazimu.

Correction: The business deal will see loss making KQ access the Boeing's global network of spare parts and on-demand services anywhere and anytime in the world. .

Correction: The business deal will see @Geza Ulole 's ATCL boeing unable to access the Boeing's global network of spare parts and on-demand services anywhere and anytime in the world. .

Hahahha hawa watu wa bongo ni funny sana. Wanapita kimya kimya, wanajua ni upuzi kununua Dreamliner to ply domestic routes kama matatu. The operation cost, wear n tear and fuel cost kufanya hii upuzi is laughable.
Lakini hapa huwezi Kuwaona waki kosoa hii project. They specialize in yapping all day about Kenya projects. Hii Dreamliner is a white Elephant!! Hiwezi jilipa, waste of money. Washenzi kabisa.

The biggest problem facing KQ is not operational efficiency or availability of spare parts. The problem is corruption and a very badly executed expansion plan which has left KQ with a huge debt and no working capital

Halafu hiyo dreamliner iliwabidi wapakie makada wa chama cha CCM kwa wingi ili kuondoa aibu maana duh
Angalia kwenye hii picha hao walio na fulana za kijani

Tumia bongo wacha insanity. Nobody asked you about corruption ya KQ, bongolalas always come up with a lame diversion.

The article is about strategic business move by KQ and Boeing to guarantee parts, servicing and improving reliability. Especially ahead to NBO-JFK flights.

Endelea to overlook This falsehood of ATCL premised on the presumption that a four aircraft airline will overnight acquire a global footprint in all the exotic locations in all corners of the globe.
ATLC airline will be simply be joining a trend of national pride invested in another round of loss-making aviation. Margins in air travel are very thin.

Clearly you did not understand What I said. The article is about KQ I donno why you are bringing ATCL. What do you understand by the term "working Capital"? Have you seen KQ balance sheet/ management accounts? Issues of supply chain are operational issues, Capital problems mean life or death situations

Endlea kuimba margins wala corruption wala sijui badly executed expansion plan etc etc...clearly you don’t understand the airline business is a low margins industry. Losses are all over the place. In the last decade more than 250 airlines have failed.

...Tazama Tanzania airlines sitting very comfortably at #194 among the failed airlines in the world.

While ATCL is among the failed airlines of the last decade sawa na akina Air Zimbabwe, Air Malawi, Uganda airlines, Nigeria Airways....KQ is still flying high; Among top 5 of the best and most respected airline companies in Africa.

Umeshikwa makende. Am trying to drill in your thick skull kwamba airline business si ya watu wadogo.

KQ are still in the game while many came and failed spectacularly kama Tanzania Airlines. Hapa ni facts, ndio nomana mnapita kimya kimya machozi ikiwa dondoka.
Stay in your lane kaka, hapa you have nothing of value to add to this discussion. Kaa kando . Lamba lolo

Kama billionaires kama akina Warren Buffet have attemted to start an Arlines and failed unafikiri Magu with 4 planes can toboa?. (In Rutos voice )My friend wacha Mchezo, hii biashara si ya watu wadogo.
