Kenyan distributor Mohan’s Oysterbay Drinks Ltd has clinched an exclusive deal to import and distribute the popular Flirt Vodka in the country.
The deal with Bulgarian spirits producer VP Brands International will see Mohan’s distribute the brand’s various flavoured vodka products in Kenya and across East Africa. The firm declined to reveal the length of its exclusive contract with the Bulgarian company. Mohan’s will take over from another local firm, First Drinks Kenya Ltd, which has been distributing the drink.
Mohan’s will only distribute Flirt Vodka but internationally the VP Brands portfolio includes Black Ram whisky, 6th Sense Gin and Rakia among others.
The Bulgarian firm said it was seeking to use its presence in Kenya as a launching pad for further penetration into the African market, particularly South Africa, Nigeria, Uganda and Tanzania.
“Kenya is ideally placed. We want to establish Kenya as our core market in Africa and use the best practices and lessons as a launch pad to other countries within Africa,” said VP Brands International Global Trade Marketing Manager Stoyan Praskov.
Flirt Vodka is sold in more than 88 markets globally. Mohan’s said it was eying the vodka’s brand awareness in Kenya with planned promotional activities in 12 major towns around the country.
Mohan’s is also the importer and distributor of leading international brands such as Grants Scotch Whiskey, Glenfiddich, Three Barrels Brandy, and Tullamore.
Hendricks Gin and Mac Mohan Whiskey.
The company also imports and distributes the Red Bull Energy drink.
The partnership comes only two months after Mohan’s Oysterbay Drinks Ltd, headquartered in Tanzania, clinched a deal with South African wine and spirits giant KWV to distribute its products which include KWV Wines, Roodeberg, Laborie and Pearly Bay across the East African region.
