"I joined other Heads of State and Government for a state luncheon at State House gardens in Dar es Salaam following a colourful swearing-in ceremony of Dr. John Pombe Magufuli as the fifth President of Tanzania. I commended the people of Tanzania for the manner in which the country has distinguished herself over the years as a leading beacon of democracy in Africa. The election of Dr. Magufuli is a re-confirmation of the desire for continuity with the policies of the ruling party which is credited with the national cohesion and development that the country has enjoyed since independence. I assured President Magufuli of my full support and desire to forge even closer bonds of friendship, entrenching further our integration agenda and indeed, uplifting the welfare of our people." - Uhuru Kenyatta
