Kenyans scoop 10 IDPA wins in Alabama (IDPA world championship)

The 2019 SIG SAUER International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) World Championships ended on Saturday at the CMP Range in Talladega , Alabama with over 500 shooters from 29 countries participating in the week-long event .



It was a maiden appearance for the Kenyan team of 12 at the Championship, and for South Africa too who were represented by a team of 6.

The shooters withstood the harsh weather conditions to record superb results in the speed and accuracy triggered contest.

The reigning Africa Champion Ian Van Der Bank from South Africa managed 2nd position SSP Master and 1st position SSP Master International.

Kenya and South Africa entered into the books of history by becoming the first African countries to qualify & participate at the IDPA World Championships.

Geoffrey Pesa from Kenya becomes the first African to participate in the 2 Gun Discipline at the World Championship in Pistol Carbine Calibre (PCC) and Pistol.

Elizabeth Wachianga of Kenya Prisons Department became the first black lady - law enforcement participant at the World Championship.
The NGAO-Kenya Vice Chairman Sammy Onyango hailed the team on their performance and said the association is now looking forward to hosting the 2020 IDPA Africa Championships in Kenya .
