Kenya's loans cross the red line, analysts warn

Kenya's insatiable appetite for loans to fund mega projects poses a risk to their economy and that of the EAC region.
Their volume of public debt as a ratio of GDP has already crossed the ratio of 50% limit set by East African Community member states as convergence criteria for the EAC Monetary Union. It currently stands at 52.6% compared to Uganda (38.6%), Burundi (42.4%), Rwanda (37.3%) and Tanzania (36.5%).
Wakenya angalieni msitukwamishe kwenye kuunda one EAC currency (The East African shilling).
Mara mpike data (fake statistics) now i see mnakiuka makubaliano ya debt ceiling. SMH!

Kenya has gone wild. It cant believe how fast Tanzania is growing... Where as Tanzania used to catch up with Kenya, now its Kenya that makes up effort to catch up with Tanzania...

They never supported it from the very beginning. Hawa watu ni wa kuwa makini nao sanaaa. They block vitu wanavyohisi vitawadhuru alafu tukifanya sisi tunaitwa lazy.
Em angalia Kenya inavyokwamisha kuunganishwa kwa masoko ya hisa ya EAC?!

That is your opinion, and we do not care what u Cicero, or any other East African thinks about our borrowing.

I do not think that the majority of Kenyans are keen on the idea of a single currency, we love our Kshs as it is.

You are talking about our debts as though Tanzania is not also considering taking loans in order to actualize its many proposed infrastructural development programs.

Kenya's debts are justified and within manageable limits. At only 50 or 60 % of the Gdp...there are countries in Africa with debt to Gdp ratios even exceeding 100%.

But what matters is what the loans are used for...
In Kenya's case, it is used on financing infratructure projects that are guarateed to help pay back the loan as well as boost the economy.

So, why all the hullabaloo about the Kenyan debt levels? Ye all blowing tgis matter out of proportion.

Huu mchezo wa kublock sasa hivi wamekutana na fundi mitambo wa kublock (Magufuli). Lakini wakifanya mchezo-mchezo watalikosa soko zima la EAC kama ilivyo UK na brexit.

Wrong. In Kenya's case, 40% of it went to a few hooligans pockets and only 60% of it actually went to infrastructure development.

I believe that indeed some of the borroeed development money has been skimmed off by the many perfidious individuals in the Kenya govt. That I cannot dispute.
However,the amount stolen cannot be 40%. That is extremely huge, there is no way to conceal that level of theft.

I would place my estimates at no more than 10%.

Rich people and politicians, are taking advantages over the poorest population who will be responsible to pay back that debts while, them and their families will be out of the system looking the rest in the deepest valley of poverty.
