Mugabe was Knighted in 1994, did anyone at that time, talk about Matebeleland? Did anyone ask the Queen yesterday while taking off the knighthood, why was it given to him in the first place? Mugabe only became a dictator, despot, thug, tyranny, murderer e.t.c., after land redistribution took effect. A coincedence or a really backlash?
Mugabe might be wrong in some of his domestic politics, which is not unique from many other 3rd World countries, but the now popular global cry over Mugabe is not about Zimbabweans at all, it is about land, it is about getting rid of Mugabe, it is about punishing him and of course it is about putting an Abel Muzorewa type leader in power. After that, you will never see BBC be vehemently concerned about the wellbeing of Zimbabweans.
