I have tried to decipher the current situation and controversies surrounding the CJ and his allegations, but i find it puzzling. For now at least the CJ has become his own man to publicly declare that his life is in danger. What had started as low insinuous campaigns from CORD operatives about attempts to put the CJ mutunga's life in danger have bone fruit and have gathered momentum, by the CJ certainly developing chest hairs to confirm fears for his life by his own mouth.

What is equally puzzling is that the threat would emerge after the ruling on uhuruto cases had been made by the judiciary about not having the jurisdiction to make ruling on them. The threats can never come after the rulings, which is nice propaganda for the media to peddle. The cart can never be before the horse. There are attempts to tarnish the image of the office of the head of civil service, which the ICC has been targetting since declaring their interests in the kenyan cases especially the ocampo6.

Mutunga has a message to bring across, but he has no way of delcearing it. unless he wants kenyans to understand that actually a gun was put on his head to influence the rulings by the judiciary! which still will not make sense.

It is said the alleged letter was
written under the command of CORD’s

Owour was simply downloading an extant letter and making copies possibly to Share with friends to educate them on the threat the CJ faces. As for Uhuru complaining about alleged biased analysis by Westerners he has not seen anything yet. When they unleash their full fury, he will learn a very hard lesson. He has almost guaranteed himself a humiliating end.

Thanks for the info. I was wondering why this rag is always skewed in its reporting.

There is a problem here because the office of the CJ is now tainted brought to disrepute as an office that is prone to infiltration of politics and can receive instructions from the CORD political secretariat or any political outfit whatsoever. This lowers significantly the integrity of the judiciary. Any body can draft a letter of such a nature but it was prudent that the origin of the letter be investigated first, becasue information has it that prof. makau mutua had the original copy of the crafted letter before circulation into the internet.

Intelligence mechanisms would have swung into action on the intentions of the letter before going public and nailing the real culprits. But since it has gone public the intention and origin of the remains a mystery and its investigation possibilities quashed.

The goal has always been to attack and taint the CJ's office! Keep off! Willy Mutunga has the highest approval rating of any public service and according to polls more people trust him that they do Kibaki, Raila, Uhuru or any other politician. What irks the Kibaki regime is the fact that the judiciary has time and again stood up to them and overturned their numerous decrees in defense of the constitution.

The attacks on the CJ will never succeed! This is the office that stands between a democratic nation and a tyrant and we will stand by him and an independent judiciary to the very last second!

Mutunga is overseeing the reformation of the judiciary and the ensuing purge of corrupt judges has made him a wanted man! Couple the aforementioned with his spirited defense of the constitution, it is clear he will be under attack for a while!

So let me get this straight, you expected the CJ to go to the three heads of the security organ, the same men who are accused of working in cohorts with the Kibaki administration to undermine the office of the CJ and the judiciary?

BTW: Kimemia has not refuted the claim that he issued the directive barring the CJ from travelling out of the country, he has simply stated he will not resign! The IEBC has also sent him a strongly worded letter over his involvement in the vote buying scheme. They have video and audio evidence of his meeting with DCs whom he gave money and asked to canvas for Uhuru Kenyatta! These are the same men you demand the CJ should confide in?

This is a fight between those who want to implement the new constitution and those who want to maintain the status quo. The means to achieve the ultimate end result have to involve financial machinations using media, government apparatus etc.

Who raised the issue of intelligence and military chiefs working with the provincial allegations to rig the allegations? isn't it Raila who raised the issue. he is working over-time, to bring the offices that he seem to be suspicious about to controversies. Since when did the military get involved in matters civilian? and isn't it open that if the inspector general was kikuyu he would have dragged the same office into controversy. Who is more tribal now? is he trying to popularise the 41-1 strategy. i am seeing a person who is worked up trying to do everything he can but all that will not mean anything constitution is clear and a mechanism should be proposed that politics should stay clear of all offices that serve the mwananchi. Let politics be confined at rallies an county barazas.

Pshycological games may not work at this time for him and raila is over-burdening himself for nothing. He would rather concetrate on winning the election which seems to slip out of his grasp, otherwise it would be painful to try and stir a commotion and go home having achieved nothing becasue there is no alternative seat for him to fall back to once he loses this election! He is trying to raise false claims for rigging so that the international community may mediate, but there is nothing of that sort this time, kenyans will speak there mind after march 4th and that will be the conclusion.

Kimemia is a civil servant appointed by the president and not a politician to give answers to every politician regarding the office, if you can try to get that then i think people understand that. The constitution can be applied and defended constructively if all parties play out their part of the bargain less of the commotion that was seen in the coalition government.

All along kibaki has not been a tyrant, but now he is a tyrant because of what if I may ask?

I tried to read the piece by Ahmednassir in the online Sunday Nation edition about the misleading nature of opinon polls but could not open it!! Could the Nation Media group also be partisan in this election the same way Ngunyi's rag is?
