Kisumu pastor arrested for involvement in robberies
Police in Kisumu have arrested a pastor suspected to be behind a spate of robberies in the city which have increased since the national government declared a countrywide curfew from 7pm to 5am.
The Pastor identified as Charles Odhiambo of Green Yellow Cross Church, was rounded up by members of the public before being handed over to the men in uniform.
Odhiambo was suspected to be a member of a gang of four including a police officer who have been robbing people while disguised as security personnel in a Subaru motor vehicle.
The suspect confessed to committing crime and also named his accomplices including a police officer attached at Maseno Police station.
The man of God who was locked up at Kondele Police station said one of the thugs had a gun.
Odhiambo and the culprits robbed three people including an M-Pesa agent as locals were in a hurry to beat the curfew deadline on Friday, April 3, evening.
So far, the Police have managed to arrest two of the named suspects as they launch a manhunt for the police officer who is attached to Maseno Police Station.
The government suspended public gatherings of all nature last month in a bid to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
Kenya has so far confirmed 126 cases of coronavirus with four deaths and four recoveries.
