I grew up finding my self having a particular name already , this case happens to most of us. I remember in high school i had a friend who disliked his name , so he decided to change it. I didn't bother to ask why he hated his original name but the reason to this is very obvious because he did not take part in deciding that name , this is a bit controversial because in a real sense a one year child can not talk , how comes being able to decide a name to be called?

We call it love and they do it for love, parents play a major role in guiding children's path to adulthood. But I m not so confident to say that the children are happy with the path they were lead in to by parents . One day at the shopping mall i saw this women with her daughter , that little kid wanted a doll which was cheap and to me it was also unattractive ,her mother wouldn't let her have that instead she bought another doll which was attractive and expensive compared to the kid's choice. The kid was happy with the doll she had chosen but because of what i think is parental love - mama intervened that ! The parents do a lot of choices on children's behalf for example selection of schools in which the child's understanding is built and got shaped in different ways depending on the nature of the school.

I think its much better if Parents should be there to guide child's decisions and choices in lieu of subjecting them into their preferences rather than that of the child. Its the same reason why people don't like their jobs or why people quit working, or why people change careers ...because someone was there to decide what is best for him or her. If children are left to do what they love no one will hate his or her job.

We love the children lets give them much freedom to see and plan their future by providing every necessary knowledge and give them opportunity to decide which direction to take.

your proposal is too difficult to be achieved in our current society, may be in future, but very distant one.

because most of us,have been blinded by custom, religions, doctrine, and beliefs that prevents us to accept your brilliant proposal above!

everyone has the liberty to chose their names, and that's why we have a bill of right and court which makes that possible.

Unfortunately, when a person is born they have to be registered and to be registered you need to have a name. This task is given to a person who has your 'best interest' and that cannot be changed.

Well said , the baby of one month or so on can not be in position to register the name it want. as well this is traditional not only in Tanzania or in modern error , but in world wide and took place since the time of Jesus na Mtume Mohamed S.A.W.

I strongly recommend the simba29 idea to be implemented in our societies and nation as well. The idea is of benefit to the coming generation though it will take some time to be adopted.

Thank you Odili for your comment and I take this as a compliment, sorry for delayed response...
I think parents should now think of the best way to give enough freedom to the children to decide their future, instead of dictating terms parents should be advisers....

Well said bro..! Most parents believes that what they see best for them implies the same way to their children so they engage themselves in deciding the destinies for their children by doing so they burry creativity and innovation that their children could have done if they were allowed to choose their path in life

Then its better for the parents to start explaining things to their children, and give them freedom to choose.
-thank you for your contribution

I am in favour of your opinion sir and I wish every single individual under this forum would spread this useful information to his/her own society so as to bring about changes in the long run.
