List of African countries by GDP (PPP)

You skip the first one huh, and I question the fourth place of Kenya sub Sahara economy position
ok bring evidence? whch country do you think takes the 4th place after SA, Nigeria and Angola? and let me just say, Angola has a larger GDP than Kenya but Kenya is way more developed than Angola.....the same can be said For Nigeria...it has a larger GDP than SA but can you compare SA and Nigeria developmentwise?? infactI think in terms of development, Nigeria is very underdeveloped...Oil tends to overhype these economies while in real sense Nigeria and Angola are performing very poorly...i respect SA because without oil it has managed to prove its worth the praises it gets (it has gold though)...I praise Kenya too because despite being very unblessed (lacks natural resources), it is still the largest economy in the East

What are you trying to say exactly? That Kenya is lower middle income country? With $1500 GDP Per Capita? Pls

Funny enough, as if other are not doing the same. Your not that special, $700 kwa nchi iliyo na resources from human to raw material, the gap can be closed very quickly.
Since 1985 when Nyerere abdicated following the catastrophic failure of his ujamaa policies, and the country's sudden shift to embrace free-market system, what has thus far prevented Tanzania from making that huge leap ala China or Vietnam to become the continental economic tiger?, .the country, as u have pointed out is endowed with massive natural and human resources, Tz, more than Kenya has the potential, by far. Nobody can refute that.

You have been talking for ages about leapfrogging Kenya "soon" economically, but when? The data clearly indicate that Kenya is widening the economic gap between the two countries.

Definition of least developed countries.
The term "Least Developed Countries (LDCs)" describes the world's poorest countries with following 3 criteria:

Low-income criterion
based on a three-year average estimate of the gross national income (GNI) per capita (under $750 for inclusion, above $900 for graduation)

Human resource weakness criterion
involving a composite Human Assets Index (HAI) based on indicators of:
(a) nutrition; (b) health; (c) education; and (d) adult literacy.

Economic vulnerability criterion
based on indicators of the instability of agricultural production; the instability of exports of goods and services; the economic importance of non-traditional activities (share of manufacturing and modern services in GDP); merchandise export concentration; and the handicap of economic smallness.

It is more than the GDP PC. Various other facets have been put into consideration here. And yes, Kenya has a GDP PC of $1500, nearly double than Tz's. Let us watch u plug that gap "soon".

This is exactly things I would expect you to say, when Kenya loses this is kind of language it comes out. I said it before, Kenya is lower middle income in economical sense you're still in mad. You just posted a link showing Kenyan position economically. Not far from Tanzania, Ethiopia is just taking Kenyan cake and eating it, in human capital, production, in electrical.

And you think that is too much of a gap, the amount can be offset with 3 month of gas supply. Just 3 Months

Go compare the Ethiopia's GDP PC with Kenya's and virtually every other indicator of economic development and come back and tell us if it is really ahead of Kenya? Ethiopia"s GDP is only spurred by its big population, but in real sence, Kenya is really far more developed than Ethiopia.
Any wonder why it is also listed amongst the LDC's despite its economy being larger than Kenya's?

is tanzania a middle income country? you are a fool...and when it comes to ethiopia....let me use simple language that you can understand....you have already proven you are an illiterate...ethiopia GDP is $69.21B Kenya GDP is $69.17B.....I know you are probably thinking that Ethiopia is already ahead of kenya...right??? but look here:
Ethiopia's population is double the size of Kenya's population...to make it easy 4 you lets say that Ethiopia has 69 oranges while Kenya also has 69 oranges....Since Kenya has 45 million people (lets call this 45 boys and girls) ethiopia has 90 million people (Lets call this 90 boys and girls)
QUESTION: Which of these groups of boys and girls will enjoy the most oranges each? the answer is Kenya....clap for yourself (hii usipoelewa wewe ni zumbukuku rudi darasa la kwanza)

If you understood GDP Per Capita tungeweza kumaliza haya maneno kitambo. Ethiopia has more than 100million people, whatever they earn it has to be divided to 100 million people. Kenya you only have 47 million, you divide your income to 47mil ppl. Lazima Ethiopia GDP per capita will be smaller than Kenyan but that's not a real story, they're archiving 10% economical growth while Kenya is on the downward trend.

Let my old man akupe darasa about GDP per capita

And then your here calling yourself cleaver one wow ...

Okay, let me use my own simple language or to be frank layman's terms. Over 100 mil ppl, is that a smaller market or big one. Over 6000 MW of power generation. Export to EU and other part up by 21% year on year. Agro business potential with vast land. Tourism beating Kenya hands down. Manufacturer production is 11% up. Mean while export from Kenya has been going down negative -0.45, power generation is only 1800MW. Tourism I don't even have to go there, Zanzibar is doing better than Kenya. So let put it right, Ethiopia is taking that 4th position with or without Kenya's help.
