Lowassa, Edward N.
He was assailed with a detrimental scandal enthralling the public and subsequently leading to his derisive abdication.....Richmond scandal awarded him a significant public reproaches and besmirches. Some political commentators even believed he was gone for good.In the aftermath of his relinquishment, a barrage of his associated failures and disapprovals was promulgated by both online and offline channels. To many people he wa unfit for any public position. He then disappeared from the public eye.
Suprisingly out of nowhere, he slowly clawed out of that deep opprobrious cave, splashed out enough cash in PR and against all odds he publicly earn himself the potency of being the ruling party's presidential candidate.
He chose himself a tactial variant Mr. Kingunge as his frontal berth and amassed on his side a host of dimunitive CCM politicians to facilitate his quest for throne. He then gathered a lot of supporters to fan his flames of nomination.
He strategically broke a record by collecting over 800,000 signatures for sponsorship, nevertheless, his striking quest for candidacy was purposefully extinguished in a twinkle of an eye by a committee chaired by the incumbent president..
The Wild Card
Some think he is bigger than the party he never found, some think CCM might miss the boat by ignoring his political clout. I have heard numbers like 5 million 4U movement supporters, 3.5 million from team Lowassa and 2.5million from Youth movement for Edward Lowassa intending to vote for UKAWA instead of CCM. That's a whooping 11 million!!...That's is likely to be a tremendous drop of voters for CCM..What a predicament!!
Is CCM ready for this large exodus of supporters? Is CCM willing to negotiate? Has CCM been brought to its knees?
Lowassa's mouthpiece Mr. Kingunge wont keep quiet and it seems like nobody can't stand in his way, the media on the other side hasn't stopped from speculating...
One thing we know for sure is that this kind of tension emboldens the opposition such that it is highly beneficial to them ahead of the election in three months time.
Despite his fall from grace in Dodoma, Lowassa is still an unprecidented wild card in this year's election..
