Ladies and Gentlemen of the Press, We have called you here today to ask you to inform all Tanzanians and the world atlarge that we reject the Presidential Poll results that are currently being announced by the National Electoral Commission across the country.
This is because there is sufficient evidence to prove that NEC officials have colluded with Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) to tamper with the voting results.
The results that have been announced thus far do not reflect the will of the people and are clearly aimed at portraying the CCM candidate ? John Pombe Magufuli ? as the winner.
In many constituencies our votes have been reduced by huge margins and added to the CCM candidate?s. In addition to this, the votes announced do not tally with the actual voter numbers and votes.
For example, the results announced for Makunduchi, Kiwengwa, Donge, Tunduru, Tunduma, Same Mashariki, Chambani, Tandahimba, Kilindi and many other areas in the country do not tally with actual presidential votes obtained at the various polling stations. We can only attribute these results to ?the election genie.? Ladies and Gentlemen of the Press; We the leaders of UKAWA ? Freeman Mbowe, James Mbatia, Professor Abdallah Safari ? have from the very start of the announcement of the presidential results expressed the various shortcomings that have surfaced over the past three days.
However, this has not deterred NEC from continuing with its pronouncements. It would almost seem like our grievances have continued to fall on deaf ears or that we have perhaps taken leave off our senses and have no inkling about what is going on within the country and at NEC.
This is not acceptable! The situation is so serious that in some constituencies like Ubungo, the results that the election agents have are very different to what was collected from all the polling stations! The same situation applies to areas where a CHADEMA, CUF or NCCR was either very popular or emerged as a winner.
We have clear evidence that you, the media, can use to verify the fact that NEC deliberately delayed announcing the results of the constituencies where we had won Parliamentary seats.
It is interesting that NEC began releasing the doctored results after the police force raided our three tallying stations and arrested our IT experts who were collecting the presidential poll results from all the polling stations across the country. At that point, the data we had indicated we were ahead in most areas of the country.
Ladies and Gentlemen of the Press; We are convinced that the raids were orchestrated so as to allow for the tampering of the results as well as the elimination of independent verification of the situation Page 1 of 2 Page 2 of 2 obtained at the polling stations on October 25, 2015.
All this is happening in the backdrop of situation where NEC is the only organ that has the legal authority to announce Presidential Poll results in Tanzania. We would like to inform Tanzanians and the world at large, until the time the raids occurred we had a 60% of the vote.
It is against this background of extreme malice and electoral anomalies that I - Edward Ngoyai Lowassa- CHADEMA?s Presidential Candidate and my running mate - Juma Haji Duni ? would like to inform all Tanzanians and the international community that we do not accept the results the NEC continues to announce.
Ladies and Gentlemen of the Press; We would therefore, wish to request NEC to stop announcing the results of the Presidential votes and to begin analyzing the information being relayed to them by the election officials at the constituency level.
What is happening at NEC is same thing the Zanzibar Electoral Commission is doing in Zanzibar where again, there is every intention to steal the UKAWA candidate - Maalim Seif Hamad Shariff?s - clear win.
