H.E deputy Gov,Machakos clears the air.
Why Machakos Deputy governor, Bernard Kiala, chose to board a matatu
Bernard Kiala is the Machakos deputy governor, who was recently spotted boarding a matatu after the withdrawal of his car and bodyguards. He spoke to MWAURA SAMORA just hours after Machakos County Assembly filed a motion for his impeachment
Is there a conflict between you and your boss Dr Alfred Mutua
We have some issues that we need to resolve. The issues are not necessarily between me and the governor, but rather with some senior county officials. I have raised ethical questions regarding issues like nepotism that I want addressed. We have cases such as a chief officer working with his wife, both occupying very senior positions. The
husband is a chief officer, while the wife is the chief procurement officer. And that's not the only case.
There are several, including one instance in which an officer is working with his mother. Such cases are rife in the county. As the Deputy Governor, I find it very hard to reconcile my conscious with this state of affairs. I have made my position on this known on many occasions, but we don't seem to be making any headway.
I don't want to imply that the governor withdrew my bodyguards, since that is not his role. However, what's surprising is that the source of all these problems is the governor's chief of staff and personal assistant. He is one of those who is perpetuating nepotism in the county because he works with his wife and brother. He wields so much power, everyone has to talk to him to get anything done.
It was reported that you had to board a matatu after your car was withdrawn. Explain.
In one of my speeches, I made an analogy that seemed to touch on the Machakos County Chief of Staff and the governor's personal assistant. Two days later, the two guards at my home were withdrawn. The same day in the
evening, I received death threats. Someone called and told me they were going to kill me because my remarks targeted their man, the chief of staff.
"We eat from him and we can't allow you to touch him. We will finish you", he said and identified himself as Joseph Chuma. He also sent me threatening messages. What seems to have stoked the fire even further is the CORD rally in Machakos. Having been elected on the CORD coalition, I have to participate in the coalition's activities and events...and since the governor was not available, I was called upon to welcome the visitors to
Machakos. That did not sit very well with my governor, because as far as he is concerned, I should not have attended the rally.
The following day, we had a cabinet meeting where I was asked to step out so that they could deliberate on my conduct. When I went out, I found that the official registration plates on my car had been removed and the driver was under instructions not to leave the compound. When I sought clarification from the director of protocol, he told me that the orders came from the governor. That is why you saw me boarding a matatu. I am now using my personal car.

[h=1]Deputy Governor Caught Pants Down… He Stage Managed Matatu Incident[/h] By

Politics is a very ugly game. You have to know your way around scheming, cheating and selling your story. This week we've been treated to the falling out story of Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua and his deputy Bernard Kiala .
Mr. Kiala had claimed that his official vehicle was withdrawn by his boss, immediately after he was kicked out of a cabinet meeting. He said that he was forced to walk for about 5 kilometres before taking a matatu to Nairobi.
It is emerging that Kiala may have stage managed the whole thing. In a press statement sent yesterday from Mutua's office, the story was cooked and the truth is Kiala's car was never withdrawn and he did not take a Matatu to Nairobi.
There are even CCTV photos to prove that.
Here's the full statement plus the images.
RESPONSE TO MISLEADING ALLEGATIONS THAT MACHAKOS DEPUTY GOVERNOR BERNARD KIALA'S CAR WAS TAKEN FROM HIM
There has been reports in the media that Machakos County's Governor Bernard Kiala had his security withdrawn and that his car was taken from him forcing him to use a Matatu.
These allegations are inaccurate and were stage managed by Mr. Kiala for reasons known to himself. The truth and evidence is as follows:
1. HE HAS TWO CARS ASSIGNED TO HIM
The Deputy Governor is assigned two official cars, a Prado No. KBG 266C and a Prado No. KBY 215B.
On Monday, July 7, 2014, one of the two Prado's – KBY 215 B, had the plates removed so that they could be sent to Kenya Revenue Authority for alteration from civilian to green County Government plates, as per requirements. In the meantime, even though he has another Prado assigned to him, he was assigned a Subaru Outback to ensure his fleet of two cars was intact.
As clearly demonstrated by CCTV cameras, After Mr. Kiala left the Cabinet meeting at the governor's office, he rode in his assigned Government Subaru Outback to his office. He then proceeded to call a press conference and lie that he had walked for 5 kilometres. He then walked to the main road, climbed into a Matatu for a stage-managed photo shoot.
He then alighted from the Matatu, went back to his office where he stayed for a while before driving out of town in his assigned Government Subaru Outback.
Therefore, the allegations that Governor Mutua had deprived him of his car are unfounded and far from the truth. Numerous witnesses and CCTV cameras can attest to this.
2. POLICE BODYGUARD NEVER WITHDRAWN
Mr. Kiala has also lied publicly that his security has been withdrawn whereas police have confirmed he still has his personal police assigned bodyguard APC JOHN MWANGANGI with him and he has never been withdrawn. The CCTV footage of July 7th, 2014, even show a bodyguard escorting him, despite earlier statements by Mr. Kiala that his security had been withdrawn.
It is not clear why Mr. Kiala has decided to engage in these actions and to mislead the public. We hope it will become clear with time what campaign, if any, Mr. Kiala is engaged in.
Please find the attached CCTV footage and images.

I'll not say that this confirms Kiala is lying, but at least it confirms Machakos CCTVs are working.
