Magavana wa benki kuu za mataifa ya Afrika Mashariki wamekanusha madai kwamba wao ndiyo wanachelewesha mchakato wa kufanikisha hatua ya kuwa na shirikisho la kifedha chini ya utaratibu wa jumuiya hiyo ili iweze kutumia sarafu moja na hivyo kupunguza gharama za kuendesha biashara. Aidha wametoa hakikisho kwamba uchumi wa jumuiya hiyo hautaathirika mara moja kutokana na hatua ya Uingereza kujiondoa kutoka Umoja wa Ulaya.

after seeing what happened to greece, spain, portugal, ireland, in europe this will be a terrible mistake. sharing a currency when the countries do not share financial decisions is going to be a big error and some countries are going to suffer as a result. i hope the one currency never happens.

It is going to happen because apparently there are things that we are going to do differently from the Europeans, like establishing an East African Statistics Bureau prior to commencement of the monetary union.
