Rescue operations have been launched to pull out a 46-seater bus that was submerged into raging Kyamela river inMakueni county.
The bus was swept while on its way to Mtito Andei along Ukia-Kalamba road on the early morning of Friday, December 6, when it slipped off a drift of the swollen river.
The number of passengers aboard the vehicle at the time of the accident was not immediately established.
No casualties were however reported.Even as the meteorological department warned of more heavy rainfall and flooding, residents in various parts of the country have been either displaced or killed in the raging flash waters and landslides.
However, the department projected that the rain is likely to continue throughout the month of December with occasional breaks.
Earlier on the day, a residential flat in Tassia estate in Nairobi collapsed on the morning of Friday, December 5, following a night of heavy downpour.
A Catholic church rescue team of 30 led by Orwa David, a building technologist, confirmed several tenants were fighting for their lives at Bristol Park hospital and other nearby health centres.
